Hey i was wondering if anyone knew the status of the 2 fighters that were injured last year.  The russian guy, magomed and the young puerto rican kid Prichard Colon.

My son is going to start competing in 3 to 4 months so i am very nervous.

I haven't heard anything about those guys since a few weeks after their respective fights.

Sometimes fighters have too much heart and the trainer allows them to take unnecessary punishment when they are losing. Whoever is in your son's corner, just make sure they are cautious and have your son's best interest at heart.

Good luck to your son in his training and possible career.

What weight class will your son be competing in ?

From what we have seen historically, most debilitating injuries in Boxing happen from Middleweight and above, because punching power increases pretty dramatically from those weight classes onward.

With the exception of guys like Arturo Gatti and Fernando Vargas, you don't see too many super-injured or totally punch drunk dudes in the lower weight classes. Also, we all know the thousands and thousands of rounds of straight up abuse that Gatti and Vargas took because of their styles.

The fundamentals of defensive fighting haven't changed in over 100 years of Boxing. Use your legs, stick the jab, know when to hold and when to turn.

If your son has good coaches, then he'll be fine.

All the very best !

I just googled Magomed and was almost brought to tears, smh. He's clearly brain dead and probably about 160 lbs, if that. Haven't read or seen much about Colon, other than the fact that he's breathing on his own.

Your son should be fine, especially if you have anything to do with it. That's good news to hear that he's about to start competing!

Hey Man! Congratulations! Hopefully we can debate one if he a pound for pound fighter!

Magmod pissed me off, his coaches and the damn doctors should gotten their nuts sued! Terrible man. Haven't heard of the Colon kid. My prayers are with all fighters.
