Sources close to the situation have informed us that 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao may already be behind the eight ball when it comes to Saturday's highly-anticipated showdown with undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather. According to an eyewitness close to Pacquiao's camp, intimate details of his training regimen, from how many rounds he sparred to how many times he used the bathroom, have been leaked over the past several weeks. The news comes just days before the two fighters will finally step into the ring after a 5-year journey to make it there.
It was Pacquiao's own trainer, Freddie Roach, who first revealed that perhaps there was a mole in the camp. "The one guy, I sent home though. He's from St. Louis, but he lives in Vegas now and he brought one of his trainers who works with Mayweather, so I had to ask him to leave. He was actually good work too. Shit, I can't remember his name. And he's a good fighter too," Roach admitted in a video interview uploaded to YouTube on April 15. "Yeah. He lasted one day. It took me a little while to recognize him and I say, 'Hey! Wait a minute! Your trainer works for Mayweather.'"
Despite the fact that Roach adopted a closed-door policy throughout the 8-week camp, Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe also suggested last week that he knew even more details regarding Pacquiao's training. "Freddie Roach thinks he runs a tight camp, but I know everything that's happening there. I heard it's been a very rough camp. And now, I think it's dawning on Manny Pacquiao exactly what he's up against," Ellerbe informed Yahoo Sports when asked for his thoughts on Pacquiao's decision to pull out of the traditional grand arrival ceremonies this past Tuesday.
Shortly after his own grand arrival, Mayweather bolstered Ellerbe's claim when he himself revealed information about Pacquiao's morning run from that very same day. "Today, he was running at Sunset Park. He changed up his run. He normally runs at UNLV, but he changed up his run to Sunset Park," Mayweather proclaimed seemingly out of the blue while speaking with reporters in attendance. Earlier today, FightHype.com obtained the following video footage allegedly taken by an unidentified source at the Silverado High School track, where Pacquiao reportedly made a last-minute change of plans for his morning run. Although it only shows Pacquiao running a lap, the manner in which it was taken seems off.
According to another source, much more information has been leaked; the type of detailed information that only those around him on a daily basis would know. Although we have yet to receive confirmation, we're told that Pacquiao has been advised that both Roach and long-time advisor Michael Koncz may somehow be involved.
