ADRIEN BRONER: "I'M READY TO GO DUCK HUNTING"

By Ben Thompson | August 06, 2012
ADRIEN BRONER:

"I'm ready to go duck hunting and there's going to be a lot of ducks out there after I'm done beating these dudes...I'ma be at 140 real soon. I just want to clean out 135. You know, clean up, get some easy money, because I make it look easy anyway, and then jump to 40 and see who's going to fight me then. Every time I go up, they go up another weight class. There comes a time to where all these people gotta stop going up in weight and we gotta see each other, man. They can keep running, but they finna run into a closet with one way in and one way out," stated former super featherweight champion Adrien Broner, who talked about his move up to lightweight, his future plans and much more. Check it out!

BT: What's poppin' with you Twin?

AB: What's happenin' Ben?

BT: Same ol', same ol'. Did you hear Gesta trying to call you out the other night?

AB: Who?

BT: Mercito Gesta; the dude who just fought on Friday Night Fights.

AB: That short Filipino? That on-ESPN fighting, little-bitty motherfucker? He just fought for what, $7500? $12,500 at the most? I just gave up $81,000 my last fight. Tell him to go get some fuckin' money and come see me then.

BT: (Laughing) Damn.

AB: This little Filipino dude, man, he's not impressive at all. There's nothing special about him.

BT: I was actually kind of shocked that he mentioned your name after the fight.

AB: So he called me out after? Because I went to sleep on his fuckin' fight. I went to sleep about the 3rd round. It was not exciting to me. I went to sleep on the fight. So after the fight, he called me out?

BT: Yep. He said he wanted Adrien Broner next.

AB: You know what it is? Everybody know if they fight me, they gonna get that big paycheck; that's one. And Ben, you know, I mean, I did the same thing when I was climbing up the ladder and trying to get to where I'm at. I respect it, you know? A lot of people are going to call me out right now.

BT: Of course. Everybody wants to go to where the money is at.

AB: Exactly, because they ain't getting no money. Ain't nobody giving out no paydays. They don't get no paydays. Niggas like me and Floyd and Pacquiao; that's it.

BT: Speaking of Floyd and Manny, people compare Gesta to Manny, kind of like they compare you to Floyd, so some say that fight might look a little like Floyd vs. Manny.

AB: Yeah, he tries to fight just like Manny, man. I'd put that nigga out. And then, look, you know what they're going to say when I put him out. "Oh, he was naturally bigger." You know they're never going to give me my credit. And then, he ain't shit, so why would I fight him? He ain't nothin'. He ain't did nothin', he ain't won nothin'; it's a lose-lose for me.

BT: So what's it looking like on October 6th? Any names been floated your way yet?

AB: Man, I don't care. Hey, I'm ready to go duck hunting and there's going to be a lot of ducks out there after I'm done beating these dudes.

BT: (Laughing) I mean, I know you'll fight anyone, but realistically, Brandon Rios is with Top Rank, so you know that fight ain't happening, Marquez is hoping to face Manny, so you know he ain't trying to fight you, and DeMarco is fighting Molina in September, so that ain't happening any time soon either. You may have to move up to 140 sooner than expected just to find some names you can face.

AB: I'ma be at 140 real soon. They can keep running, but they finna run into a closet with one way in and one way out. They gonna be trapped in the closet like R. Kelley.
