Moments ago, at the 1STBANK Center in Denver, Colora, former WBO jr. welterweight champion Mike Alvarado was upset in front of his hometown fans by the hard-hitting Ruslan Provodnikov, who scored a 10th round TKO after a war of attrition. Alvarado appeared to have the right game plan, he simply couldn't keep Provodnikov off of him. The Russian slugger broke Alvarado down with vicious body shots that dropped him twice in the 8th round. Although Alvarado was game and fought back valiantly, he was never able to fully recover as the punishment from Provodnikov took its toll, forcing his corner and the referee to call a halt to the action.
