"Mayweather vs. Maidana 2 on September 13, Live on Showtime PPV. #Mayhem," wrote undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd "Money" Mayweather, who officially announced that his highly-anticipated rematch with Marcos Maidana is a done deal. As expected, the bout will take place on September 13 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and will be televised on Showtime Pay-Per-View. Once again, Mayweather used his Shots iPhone App to make the announcement.
Though Mayweather already earned a majority decision over Maidana after two out of the three judges scored it 117-111 and 116-112 in his favor (the third judge scored it 114-114), there are many who felt the first fight was close after Maidana put up a much more competitive effort than expected. This will be the second time in Mayweather's career that he's given the same person another shot at his undefeated record, the first being an immediate rematch with Jose Luis Castillo back in 2002 after some disputed his initial victory over the former lightweight champion.
