"I heard he's a tough guy, that's what I heard, but I don't really know who he is or anything. I don't know too much about him, but I know one thing. Manny better not mess around or he'll get whooped or knocked out...Hey, when a guy can box, man...Pacquiao is not a defensive genius. He's not that. Floyd is that. That's what Pacquiao don't have. He can't fight the way he used to fight," stated world-class trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr., who shared his thoughts on the upcoming November showdown between WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao and jr. welterweight champion Chris Algieri. Check it out!
BT: Speaking of Manny Pacquiao, he's got a fight coming up next month with Chris Algieri. Do you know anything about the guy he's fighting?
FMS: I heard he's a tough guy, that's what I heard, but I don't really know who he is or anything. I don't know too much about him, but I know one thing. Manny better not mess around or he'll get whooped or knocked out.
BT: Well, Algieri can definitely box, but he's not a big puncher, so I think Manny will have to worry too much about getting knocked out.
FMS: Hey, when a guy can box, man...Pacquiao is not a defensive genius. He's not that. Floyd is that. That's what Pacquiao don't have. He can't fight the way he used to fight.
BT: Can you definitely see a difference in the way Manny fights now as opposed to the way he fought several years ago?
FMS: Man, you know damn well there's a difference. Who is the last guy Pacquiao knocked out? He ain't knocked no damn body out, man. He might not knock this guy out. I mean, I'm just telling you, man. You know before, man, he knocked down Shane Mosley. Then he stopped somebody like Cotto. How did he stop Cotto? Come on, man. He stopped De La Hoya. How did he stop De La Hoya? Everybody he fought, he stopped them. He ain't stopped nobody in four or five years now. He ain't doing nothing. I mean, come on, man. It obvious. How in the hell he ain't knocking nobody out now if he was knocking everybody out?
BT: Being not only Floyd's trainer, but also his father, does that irritate you a little bit if you hear people saying that Floyd is afraid to fight Pacquiao?
FMS: Man, I don't pay attention to that because you know why? I know Floyd will whoop Pacquiao's ass. He ain't afraid of nothing. Shit man, come on. Pacquiao couldn't even whoop Bradley. He's having problems with them kind of guys, come on. Floyd is the best, I must confess. For all the rest, there's no contest. He will shock your mind, he's one of a kind; he's the greatest fighter of all time.
