"I think it's time to say something. I'm going to say the people deserve that fight. The fans deserve that fight. I think it's time to make that fight happen," stated 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao, who spoke to the media during the post-fight press conference following his dominant victory over jr. welterweight champion Chris Algieri. Pacquiao once again made it clear that he's hoping to face undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather in his next fight, so he's leaving it to his promoter, Bob Arum, to make it happen.
"It's been a long time that I want that fight, but, you know, I just didn't want to be talking about that fight when the other camp would deny, deny; they always deny to talk about that fight, so I thought better to say nothing," Pacquiao explained when asked why he's being more vocal now than he's ever been in the past when asked about the fight. "Right now, I think the fans has called for this mission to fight with him, so I think the fight it has to happen because the fans deserve that."
Pacquiao added, "For me, I want that fight happen. I just leave it to my promoter. It's his job. My job is to prepare and fight."
