Upon hearing the news about the proposed showdown between former jr. middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez and middleweight contender James Kirkland, IBF junior middleweight champion K9 Bundrage voiced his displeasure about the matchup and Canelo's unwillingness to challenge him for his world title. "Canelo can't run forever. I would think that, if you say you the best you would fight the best. Really, to be honest with you, I already had my eyes set on Bradley anyways," Bundrage explained during a recent conversation with FightHype.com.
"It was messed up for the fact that Oscar say he wanna see the best fight the best and you got a guy that is a welterweight willing to move up to junior middleweight and say he would fight me when a junior middleweight won't even fight me," he continued. "Canelo would rather fight a guy who has been inactive and who isn't a world champion. Why would you want to fight a guy that has no belt when you can fight a guy that has a belt and he's 41 years old?"
Bundrage did, however, express great interest in a potential clash with former welterweight champion Timothy Bradley, who will also be looking to make his return to the ring this spring. "I got a welterweight talking about moving up and saying he wants to be a world champion again. I take my hat off to Bradley because he showed a big heart to even put my name out there," Bundrage added.
