A representative of HBO Sports has released the following statement regarding their involvement in negotiations for a potential mega-fight between undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather and 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao:
"With all the reporting and media interest we at HBO Sports wanted to make this one comment:
We are not an impediment to this fight.
We stand ready to go.
The principals need to agree to terms and come to a deal."
Obviously the statement was released in response to multiple reports that there are still numerous issues that have yet to be resolved between the two networks, HBO and Showtime. Despite the brief comments from HBO Sports, however, it's still unclear if those issues have been resolved or if we're any closer to reaching an agreement.
