"I think it will be an all-action fight...It's a good fight he's taking, Broner. It's not an easy fight for him. Shawn could be a bad style for him...If you break it down, either one of them could win the fight," stated former world champion Amir Khan, who gave his in-depth breakdown on the anticipated showdown this Saturday between former world champions Adrien Broner and Shawn Porter. Check out what else he had to say!
AMIR KHAN ON BRONER VS. PORTER:
"The way I see it, Broner and Porter, they're both good fighters, similar in size height-wise. They're both similar in height, very short, so height-wise, their reach is similar. I think Broner might be the fighter who's more athletic. Broner's a little bit more athletic, good movement on his feet, you know, shoulder rolls. With Porter, Porter's a tight fighter, a fighter who's a little stiff, so I think that's why Broner will kind of just keep picking at him really. He won't try to go for the knockout or hurt him. I think he'll just keep picking at him.
Maybe early in the fight, he might even put him down; he might put Porter down, Broner, because Porter's going to be quite dehydrated from the weight. He's bringing him down to 145 and Porter is kind of a thick guy. First of all, I hope, I mean, I don't know if he's going to make the weight, but I think 145, which is the catchweight; is it 145 or 144? I don't know if he'll make the weight, man. He might not make the weight. If the fight's made at 147, Porter's got it. If they made it at 145, just that two pounds makes a massive difference and Broner's got it.
I think it will be an all-action fight. Porter's going to think he's got the power to hurt him. He's going to try and throw a lot of punches. He has a decent, high workrate, but is that same workrate and power going to be there even if he makes the weight? That last two pounds might just kill too much energy in him.
But Shawn comes to fight, bro. It's a good fight he's taking, Broner. It's not an easy fight for him. Shawn could be a bad style for him. Look, the only reason why I think Broner could win is the weight thing. Porter used to be a light middleweight, brother, in the amateurs. I don't think his power will be with him. I just don't see it. And he's not that athletic, you know what I mean, where he's not really an athletic fighter. Porter's a tight fighter. Then again, we've seen Broner go down. I don't know if Porter has the same power as Maidana, but...you know what, bro, this is a 50/50 fight. I give it 60 to Broner and 40 to Porter. It is a close fight. It's a very close fight. If you break it down, either one of them could win the fight. It's just styles and whichever Broner and which Porter turns up on the night."
