BREAKING BREAD ON ADRIEN BRONER VS. SHAWN PORTER: "GREAT FIGHT...A 50/50 FIGHT"

BREAKING BREAD ON ADRIEN BRONER VS. SHAWN PORTER:

This is a great fight. You got one kid in Broner that's a little more naturally talented with God-given gifts. You got another kid in Porter who is probably a little more disciplined and a little more of a hard worker. As a fighter, he's a little more bigger and stronger, but I think Broner is the sharper, quicker fighter. I also think Broner has better reflexes as far as like defensive reflexes, like anticipating punches and stuff like that. Shawn is fast, but he's really...it's not too hard to hit him. He kind of tips off when he's about to do something. He bends down and squats and then jumps up and pops up, so you can kind of anticipate what Shawn is about to do. But it works for him because he's very strong, he's very fast, and very, very determined and he has an outstanding amateur pedigree. But if you look at the Kell Brook fight, Kell Brook didn't really do much to Shawn except for wait for him to pop up and hit him with right hands. He didn't try to match Shawn's workrate or energy level or anything. He just waiting for Shawn to step in with his attack and he would hit him with a hard one-two. He did that the whole fight.

I think the fight is a 50/50 fight, but because Shawn has to come down to 144, I think that Team Broner did a great job at the negotiating table. I personally don't have a problem with a catchweight fight. Everybody makes a big deal about it, but Shawn didn't have to take it. Shawn has options, man. He's with Al Haymon, he's been on PBC, and he's had some big paydays. He didn't have to take that fight. It's your team's job to get you advantages at the negotiating table, so I don't have a problem with Team Broner wanting Shawn to come down in weight. It's up to Shawn and his team to say, "No, I'm not going down in weight." Team Broner did a better job in my opinion than Team Porter because they brought him down in weight. See, people don't understand that weigh-ins are very stressful for a fighter. That's all a fighter cares about when he gets to the hotel is, where is the scale and when is the weigh-ins. They are very, very antsy. They are in a bad mood. Most of them can't even drink anything because they are drying out 24 hours before the weigh-in. So now, Shawn Porter is stressed for the weigh-in. So Team Broner, in my opinion, just did a hell of a job.

So factoring everything in, man, with Floyd helping Broner out, I believe that Broner is going to fight a very disciplined fight because I think that Floyd is going to instill that in Broner; to fight disciplined and don't try to fight with pride and mix it up and learn to tie him up and just be smart. Floyd is the master at that. He don't let the crowd or anybody get in the way of the game plan, which is very important when you're fighting a dude like Porter, who is probably a little bit more stronger and physical. I think that with Broner's sharpness and with Shawn having that predictable rhythm where he jumps in and he's real easy to hit with a right hand, and with him sucking down them 3 extra pounds...Shawn has a lot of scar tissue and when you losing weight like that and you sucking down to make weight, it's easier to get cut because your skin has less fluid in it. So factoring all those things in, I think Broner is going to edge him. So I'm going to say Broner by a majority decision. I just think his right hand is going to be a little too accurate and he's going to be a little too sharp. The crowd may not like how he fights, but I think he's going to box and tie Shawn up and he's going to counter punch Shawn and he's going to cut him and I think he's going to win a decision.
