Moments ago at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada, former jr. middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez added the WBC middleweight title to his resume, defeating former champion Miguel Cotto via unanimous decision. Although it was more of a chess match than the all-out brawl that was promised, both fighters had moments where they landed some solid shots. It was Canelo, however, who was landing the more telling blows. In the end, the judges the scored the bout 117-111, 119-109, 118-110 all in favor of Canelo.
