"It's a good name to have on my resume. Like I told him, it was no disrespect or nothing; it's boxing. I believe I can beat him. I know I can beat him...onestly, I see me stopping him. And that's no disrespect; I just know me and I know how he fight. I see me stopping him," stated jr. middleweight contender Tyrone Brunson, who talked about his future plans and much more. Check it out!
PC: How are you, man?
TB: I'm good, man. I'm good.
PC: You just fought in October. Four of your last five opponents were undefeated and you held your own against them.
TB: I don't turn down no fights, man. You wanna be the best, you gotta fight the best, man. If I had a manager and a promoter at the time, I would have beaten half of these guys. I'm going into the lion's den when I'm fighting these guys with no backing or nothing.
PC: What's up with you now? I know you have a new situation.
TB: I just fought October 14th and I'm signed with King's Promotions. I think we are going to fight January 13th!
PC: Are you in the gym or you taking it easy until you know something official?
TB: I'm in the gym. I'm grinding, man. I ain't got time to be waiting anymore and taking off.
PC: Now that you have a promoter, as far as where you are at in your career, do you feel like there is no room for error?
TB: I gotta win. I can't even just put on great performances; I gotta win. I'm with a promoter now and all he wants is the best for me, so anything he gives me, I gotta win. I can't afford no more losses or anything like that.
PC: Are you campaigning at 154 or middleweight?
TB: I fight at 154. I don't know why they list me at middleweight. I think it's because I fought Carlos Garcia at 157. But I'm definitely a junior middleweight.
PC: There is a lot of competition there, man.
TB: I know, man. I'm trying to get back in a rhythm so I can start busting these dudes' heads, cracking these bulls' heads open; sneak up on 'em.
PC: Ishe Smith is a guy you recently named as someone you would like to fight. Why Ishe?
TB: Just because it's a good name to have on my resume. Like I told him, it was no disrespect or nothing; it's boxing. I believe I can beat him. I know I can beat him.
PC: How do you see a fight playing out between you and Ishe Smith?
TB: Honestly, I see me stopping him. And that's no disrespect; I just know me and I know how he fight. I see me stopping him.
PC: Is that the type of fight you're looking for in January, an Ishe Smith type of fight, or is this going to be a stay-busy fight?
TB: I don't think they give me stay-busy fights (laughing). It can be against whoever. Like I said, I don't turn down no fights. What are we in the business for? Everybody want a gift, man. That's what I call it. I haven't had that since I was 19-0 (laughing). Once you reach that level, all of that stuff stops for most of us.
PC: What keeps you motivated in this sport?
TB: I'm still hungry and my kids motivate me; my family. I'm just trying to provide a better life for my family, that's all.
PC: You named Ishe Smith. Is there anyone else out there you would like to test your skills against?
TB: Any one of them top 15 guys; any one of 'em. I'll fight anyone. Whoever Marshall [Kauffman] put in front of me, that's who we fighting. If it's Ishe, great; if it's another big name, that would be great. But I'm not fighting anybody with an underwhelming record anymore. Where I'm at right now, I don't gain anything by fighting a guy with a subpar record. I don't gain anything from that. When I leave the sport, I want them to say Tyrone fought everybody. He didn't duck nobody. He fought the best at that time.
PC: I wish you the best of luck. I hope you land some of these big fights you are aiming for and keep me in the loop. Give me some closing thoughts my man.
TB: I would like to thank God, he's number one, all of the fans that's been rocking with me, and I want to thank King's Promotions. Everyone can follow me on Instagram @ty_tnt_215 and Ty Brunson on Facebook!
