Sources close to the information have informed us that Golden Boy's antitrust lawsuit against Al Haymon is now over. Although specific details are unclear at this time, we're told that the case was "thrown out" earlier today. The news comes just one day after Golden Boy Promotions founder Oscar De La Hoya was arrested for a DUI.
Back in May of 2015, De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions announced it had filed the $300 million lawsuit against Haymon and his business entities, alleging multiple violations of antitrust laws and the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act. After more than a year of different motions, depositions, and interesting findings in the discovery phase, including a series of emails between a Golden Boy employee and a reporter who used racist slurs to refer to Haymon, it appeared that both sides were gearing up for a March showdown in court. According to our sources, however, that trial showdown will no longer be taking place now that the case has been dismissed.
