REGIS PROGRAIS INSISTS HE'LL

"I'm calling out names, bruh. That's what I'm going to do is call out dudes. I don't think Broner can make 40. Of course they don't want him to fight at 47...I really don't think he can make 140. But if he can, hey, I'll go for it. The rankings just came out, I'm #4 in the world and he's not even nowhere in there...Everybody I've been fighting, I've been running through them. Those level of opponents are not for me anymore. It's time for me to step up and definitely step up my money and get big fights," stated jr. welterweight contender Regis Prograis, who made it clear that he's eager to step into the ring with any big name that's willing to give him a shot. Check it out!

PC: What have you been up to?

RP: I'm in the gym. I'm always in the gym no matter what. It's just a little calmer. Of course I'm not in a training camp for nobody, but I'm still in the gym. That's all, just trying to stay busy and stay active and trying to stay sharp a lil' bit.

PC: I like the fact that you're willing to call out names and say names and fighters seem to be getting away from that nowadays. You threw a lot of names out there; Provodnikov, Hooker, Burns and you thought a fight with Adrien Broner was not obtainable because you felt he couldn't make 140 pounds anymore, but he seems determined to be there.

RP: I'm calling out names, bruh. That's what I'm going to do is call out dudes. I don't think Broner can make 40. Of course they don't want him to fight at 47, but...maybe he not strict on his diet or whatever. I don't know what it is, but I really don't think he can make 140. But if he can, hey, I'll go for it. The rankings just came out, I'm #4 in the world and he's not even nowhere in there. Ashley Theophane is another name. He's somebody that's battle tested. Theophane or Provodnikov or even Viktor Postol. He had the belt and Terence Crawford took it from him. So somebody like that. I want a name on my resume. Everybody I've been fighting, I've been running through them. Those level of opponents are not for me anymore. It's time for me to step up and definitely step up my money and get big fights.

PC: Just one other note about a potential Broner fight. You seem convinced he can't make 140. If you were able to secure that fight, would you put in weight stipulations?

RP: Yeah because I wouldn't want no 143-144 type of fights. So I would have to because he would try to do his own thing and come in at 143 or something. That would be on my management to make a stipulation for however much money for every pound or something like that. Maybe I might get the belt before him and he might have to fight me for the belt and then he'll definitely have to make weight. If it's still a fight with him on the horizon, I'm with it. I've been calling him out for awhile now but it's kind of been off the charts for me because, like I said, I'm a 40-pounder. I want the belts at 140 and he just don't seem like...I don't know when the last time he made 140; maybe 2 years ago or something like that. I just don't think that he can make that weight no more, but if he can, we can make the fight happen.

PC: That's also something you stick to your guns about, catchweight fights don't mean anything to you. You're truly trying to become the junior welterweight champion of the world.

RP: Yeah, that's exactly what I'm saying. That's the whole point. I want the belts. I know my goals and I know what I want. I want all of the belts at 140 eventually. It might take awhile, but I want all of the belts at 140 and after I get that, eventually I might go up to 147. But right now, my first goal is to get the belts at 140. Like I said, if Adrien Broner can make 140, then that's good. We can make that fight happen, but if he can't, I'm not worried about it. They got 3 people out there with belts. Terence Crawford got two of them, that guy Julius Indogo had one, and Ricky Burns got the other one. If I can get one of those belts, that's what I want to do because I want the belts and I want the money. I'm not just chasing Adrien Broner. People think that's what's happening, no, I'm not just chasing names; I want those belts. At the time when I started calling out Adrien Broner, he was the man at 140. He had the belts, but now he don't got them no more and honestly, for me, it don't really make sense for me to be calling them out because he don't have no belts and it don't seem like he can make 140 no more to get a belt. But if he can, I'm with it; let's do it.

I'll fight Maurice Hooker. I'll fight whoever. I'm just ready to step it up basically. Nobody has been able to challenge me so far. My last opponent, I knocked him out with a jab to the body. I really didn't even get a fight. I got more of a fight in sparring than I did in the fight. I want a name. If they bring me Hooker, we can do that, but honestly, I even think Hooker would be a step backwards. I know he fought in Mexico or something like that off TV, but when he fought on the Ward-Kovalev card, he fought Darleys Perez and to me, he really lost. They gave him a gift draw. It's whatever and that's how it is. That's boxing sometimes. But I'll come out better fighting somebody like Darleys Perez than him because I feel like he really won. I want to fight the best. I feel like Perez really won that fight, so I would rather fight him than Maurice Hooker because he really won the fight.

PC: It sounds like to me you need those kind of fights from a motivational standpoint too. I doesn't sound like you're going to be able to continue to get up and do the things you need to be doing against subpar opponents.

RP: Yeah it is, bruh! I want to be tested .I'm a big student of the game. I love boxing, I study it all the time, and the best fight the best. That's what they do. I'm ready to start stepping up. I just feel like right now, you can't put nobody in the world in front of me at 140 that I don't think I can handle. They can't run over me. The best person at 140 right now is Terence Crawford and I'm not even scared of that fight. I feel like I can compete with him right now and I only got 19 fights. He's the champion and I respect the champion of course. He is the best person at 140 right now and I won't say he poo or nothing like that, but that fight don't even scare me. I'll get in there with him right now. If they offered me a Terence Crawford fight next, I'll do that. Ricky Burns has been holding on to that belt and this new dude, Julius Indogo, he has the other belt and right now, I'm in it for these belts. That's who got the belts. As far as Adrien Broner and Maurice Hooker, they really don't got nothing that I really want. Of course I'll fight them because I'm a fighter, but they don't have what I want. I want the belts. But if I need to get a step up fight with Ashley Theophane or Provodnikov to prove that I deserve a shot at the belt, then hey, let's do it. I'm down for that too. I definitely feel like I can beat Ricky Burns right now and I definitely feel that I can beat Julius Indogo right now. They have belts and that's what I want.

PC: And those are two fights, Burns and Indogo, that you may have to get on the road for and I know you're not opposed to that either.

RP: I'm definitely willing to do that. I actually like traveling more. I don't know why, I just like traveling more. Sugar Ray Robinson did it a lot, Muhammad Ali did it a lot, and those guys traveled all around the world. That's what I feel like a real world champion is. They travel all around and that's what I want to do too. When I'm a world champion, I want to travel. I don't want to just fight in one place. I want to fight in different places. I'll definitely go to their hometown to fight them. I feel like it's more motivation anyway to go over there and fight them.

PC: I appreciate the time as always and I hope some of these names you've been saying for awhile now take notice and you get that call.

RP: For sure, bruh! Everyone follow me on all of my social media outlets; just look up Regis Prograis. I've been saying this for 5 years now, bruh, I'm coming. I'm only getting better and I'm running over everybody. I have been running over everybody. I haven't had a hard fight yet where somebody can really actually test me. I'm looking for those fights. I feel like I've been fighting solid opponents and I've been running through everybody. I just want a big name. And another thing, when I was in New Orleans for All-Star weekend, I got to party with Floyd and I talked to Floyd about it and he said the Theophane fight can happen. I called Floyd on that and I talked to him personally and he said it can happen. I told him I wanted Theophane. He asked me who I was promoted by; I told him Lou DiBella and you know how he talk. He was like, "Yeah, you can get this work." I was out there with him. I'm real cool with one of his close bodyguards. I actually knew him before Floyd knew him. He was living out here in Houston and I was training him and his old lady and he told me he was moving out to Vegas to go be a bodyguard for Floyd. And that's what he did. That's exactly what he did. It's a dude named Ray. I don't know if you saw the dude on All Access, the bodyguard that was in the ring and got knocked out. He like a big swole Russian dude or whatever; that's him. I've been knowing him before he met Floyd and he used to tell me he wanted to be a bodyguard for me and he moved to Vegas and now he's a bodyguard for Floyd, so it all worked out good. That's like family to me. I'm real cool with him. So I got to meet Floyd, I partied with him all night and talked to him before we went out, talked to him after we got back to the hotel, and he was saying we can do the Theophane fight, so I'll hold Floyd to his word on that.
