"It was hilarious to me because, first of all, it doesn't bother me at all in the least. For him to attack me is meaningless because I haven't done nothing to you," stated world-class trainer Jeff Mayweather, who fired back at recent comments made by UFC president Dana White regarding Mayweather's own revelation that the UFC is negotiating an 80/20 split with Conor McGregor for the potential Floyd Mayweather showdown. JEFF MAYWEATHER RESPONDS TO DANA WHITE ABOUT 80/20 UFC/MCGREGOR SPLIT:
For him to attack me is meaningless because I haven't done nothing to you. The thing is that basically even way back when I used to help Dana with his boxing classes, he would do beginners, intermediate, and advanced boxers and I would be the one that would box with them and work with the fighters as well. We were real close at one point in time. And not only that, I even had Floyd wear his [company's] brand on his trunks. I forget what company he was with at the time, but I had Floyd wear it. That was in one of Floyd's first fights I had him wear the brand that Dana brought to him.
Dana White has changed. Oh yeah, of course, he's not even remotely the same person that he was when I met him when he first came here [Las Vegas]. He's not even close to that. To be honest, to me, it seems like he's on something. The thing is when I first met him, he used to be real, real mild-mannered guy. He never tried to be braggadocios or this or that. I don't know if money changes you or anything like that, but if it does, it made him a much worse person than he used to be. Don't get me wrong, I that's become Dana's signature [lashing out at someone]. Anytime he gets mad at someone, that's what he says. I'm not exempt. I wasn't offended by it at all.
The only reason he even saying anything about me is because of the fact that I'm telling the truth and the truth hurts. When you put it out there and you have all of these people with all of these expectations of you and then now, everybody realizing that you ripping these fighters off, and that's basically what it amounts to. You have a guy [Conor McGregor], true enough he's going to make more money than he's ever made in his life, but at the same time, 80/20, that's a horrible split in any sense of the word; I don't care because at the end of the day, Conor's still gotta go in the ring.
I'm talking about the UFC with Conor McGregor [80/20 split] because Floyd's money is guaranteed. Whatever Floyd gets, Floyd's gonna get. Whatever he asks for, that's what they gotta give him for that fight to even happen. Like I said, I just pulled the wool off of him, that's all. A lot of people thought already that anyway, but it came from a different source, so maybe people looking at him in a different way now. I'm looking at all the comments on...most people are saying, yeah, they know that he's a thief.
You see what I did, I laughed it off. It didn't bother me at all because, first of all, I know what type of person I am and nobody ever said nothing bad about me. So for me to get upset about that would mean that I done something wrong, but I knew I didn't. I'll still say hi to him; I'll still shake his hand or whatever. I don't have no problem with him, especially now. Like I said, I'm at a place in my life where I'm becoming very, very spiritual and I can't even entertain going back and forth like that over some minute issue that really don't matter to me one way or the other.
