MARK "TOO SHARP" JOHNSON GIVES HIS TAKE ON MAYWEATHER VS. MCGREGOR: "FLOYD CAN MAKE THIS FIGHT VERY EASY"

"Conor McGregor can't resort to anything that he's used to when the punches are landing. He can't kick Floyd or anything like that. Floyd can make this fight very easy...I don't think Floyd is going to stop him because if Floyd stops him, you won't be able to get anybody else to do something like this," stated Hall of Fame former world champion Mark "Too Sharp" Johnson, who shared his thoughts on the highly-anticipated cross-sport mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor. Check it out!

PC: Too Sharp, what are your thoughts on the Mayweather-McGregor fight?

MJ: To me, as a fighter, I think it's a slap in the face to real fighters, but what Floyd Mayweather was able to do, Floyd was able to make his haters and people that dislike him want to see him lose and when Floyd do that, it makes money. The bottom line is, if it don't make dollars, then it don't make sense. Floyd will be walking away with north of $100 million for a day's work that it takes people a lifetime to make.

PC: When you say it's a slap in the face to real fighters, do you just feel there is a pro boxer out there more deserving of this opportunity and this payday from Floyd?

MJ: Yeah, I think it was a lot of other fighters that deserve a money fight like that. We got some young kids...Errol Spence and Mayweather would be a good fight, Danny Garcia, or Keith Thurman. There are a lot of money fights out there, but once again, Showtime, Mayweather, and McGregor was able to put together this fight and the only ones upset right now are Oscar De La Hoya and HBO.

PC: I'm sure you are on the side of people not giving Conor McGregor a chance in hell of landing something significant enough to pull this fight off.

MJ: I don't give Conor McGregor a chance. I'm a firm believer on not giving Conor McGregor a chance. I know people say it's a Mike Tyson-Buster Douglas type scenario, but Buster Douglas was a guy that fought. Conor McGregor can't resort to anything that he's used to when the punches are landing. He can't kick Floyd or anything like that. Floyd can make this fight very easy.

PC: These MMA guys are starting to call out boxers because they don't get the monetary benefits that boxers receive. Do you think this fight will start a trend of hybrid type of fights?

MJ: I think it is going to be a trend. I think it will open the doors to MMA guys, in particular UFC guys, calling out boxers. You have a lot of guys in the UFC that can't make no money like that at all, so if these guys can't make money, it's nothing that they won't try to get that type of money.

PC: Kathy Duva called Mayweather-McGregor a circus. Would you go that far?

MJ: Well, you know, the circus makes money, right? Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus makes money. They go all across the whole United States making money, so she can call Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor a circus, but guess what, they getting paid. They are making money and that's what boxing is about. When I signed a contract and I fought for a world title and did what I did, I put everything on the line to become a world champion and most importantly, it's guys in here losing their lives; it's about getting money. I have fun with it and laugh about it, but Floyd is a guy that knows how to make his enemies pay and that's what he's doing.

PC: What is your final prediction on the fight?

MJ: I don't think Floyd is going to stop him because if Floyd stops him, you won't be able to get anybody else to do something like this. I was working with a guy and we were going to do a card where boxers fought UFC guys and when we were ready to hit the record button, they said, "Nah!" But let me ask you something, you think I can fight a Jim Lampley or Harold Lederman or my good friend Al Bernstein or John Beyrooty; I would say Paulie Malignaggi, but he's fought before, so if Floyd was able to pull this off, I should be able to get one of them, right?

PC: I think they would have to find someone with some combat experience to get in there with you, my man (laughing).

MJ: (Laughing) Okay, I guess that's fair. When people first started talking about this fight, I laughed at it and said this was a fight that would never happen, but this goes to show that Floyd, no matter what you say about him or you think about him, he is a business man. And not just a business man, but he is a business man and he knows how to make money. He showed everyone that when he got the Showtime deal. Floyd figured out this, the way athletes make money is by having people disliking him and Ali put butts in seats. Ali developed an audience of people who wanted to see him get beat and he targeted those people in his rants. But they could never see him get beat, but you paying all of this money to see him get beat and he's constantly winning, he's constantly racking up on your dime and at your expense. Floyd and his team, Leonard Ellerbe and all of those guys are smart, man. Those guys are very smart.
