"I thought Triple G won the fight by a couple of rounds. It's hard to beat Canelo by decision. As everyone knows, I beat him and wasn't given the fair decision, and even Mayweather beat him soundly and one card was a draw, so all these examples speak for themselves," stated WBA jr. middleweight champion Erislandy Lara, who shared his thoughts on the recent split draw between middleweight champions Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez. Lara, who lost a controversial split decision to Alvarez three years ago, made it clear that if he ever gets another opportunity to step in the ring again with Canelo, the judges won't be a factor.
"I beat Canelo the first fight, that's not a question, but if we ever fought again, I would be more aggressive and go for the knockout. You’re never going to get a fair judgement when you step in the ring with Canelo, so you must stop him," Lara explained during a recent interview with FightHype.com. Althoug he felt Golovkin did enough to earn the victory against Canelo, he almost made it clear that the hard-hitting unified middleweight champion would suffer a similar, albeit different outcome if they ever squared off. "Triple G, he’s been exposed. If we fought, I would outbox him for twelve rounds and win on points," Lara continued. "If Triple G wants to get in the ring, or Canelo for that matter, then I’m down. I’m ready to fight the best."
