MAGNO'S BULGING MAIL SACK: ALL LOVE AND A LITTLE HATE

Every Thursday we gather around the flickering light of the Universo Pugilistico to honor my beautiful and bulging sack. So, please, take a seat and open your eyes wide as I reach into my sack for a handful of awesomeness. Enjoy.

What a Weekend!

Hey Paul! Hope all is well

Man, what a weekend of boxing. We did receive some treats past weekend, and some surprises.  Starting off with Demarco. I was happy for him to win the fight but I personally felt the stoppage was a  little premature for a Stub Hub fight, which are always wars. I like to see Ramirez get a rematch. Moving on, Mares looked great and definitely is ready for a rematch with one of my favorite fighter, Santa Cruz. I think we will get an excellent fight from the both of them but Santa Cruz wins again.  All right, let’s talk about 154 fights, I was in pugilistic heaven watching these matches, I had picked Trout to win based on experience, but that freight train he fought was coming too fast and hitting too hard and has a great chin. That was the best of trout I’ve ever seen and I think prolly the last of him as well, he left a lot in the ring!  Charlo, Charlo, Charlo. These twins are not to be messed with. I think we all knew that it was way too early of a fight for Lubin to take. I don’t know why his management let him take that fight. The kid is good but was way over his head and needed more fights under his belt before taking a fight like that. But let’s give him an A for heart.  The fight is Hurd vs Charlo and I’m going on record with Charlo winning.  The winner should get Lara.

It was good to have the resurgence of One Time and to see him and Spence side by side, but I don’t think we get that fight until the end of 2018 or beginning of 2019 unfortunately.

The sport of Boxing is very healthy right now let’s keep it going!!!!!

Hey Jay Cee.

This was a really solid weekend for boxing and a reminder that there are plenty of quality fights to be made beyond the two or three “superfights” media and fans seem obsessed with. For those who been serial and perpetual critics of Premier Boxing Champions, this weekend pretty much has to shut you up. (Or it SHOULD, anyway).

At 147 and 154, Haymon’s fighters are the one’s powering those divisions and, despite all the talk of Haymon being a protectionist hell bent on serving up soft touches, his guys HAVE been facing each other in risky fights. And now we get Thurman-Spence building at welter and Charlo-Lara-Hurd building at junior middleweight. Throw in Santa Cruz-Mares-Frampton at 126; Wilder-Joshua at heavyweight; Jermall Charlo becoming Golovkin’s mandatory at middleweight; and a host of other big-time players in other divisions.

I don’t really know if their business model is succeeding (and I don’t much care if it is or isn’t), but there’s no denying that PBC fighters and fights have become increasingly compelling as the project has moved forward. It’s too bad that so many fans have allowed themselves to be manipulated by compromised media into not giving this project a chance. With the exception of a few missteps here and there, PBC has been a positive for the American fight scene and their early paving of roads—which was, admittedly, rough in some patches—is starting to pay dividends for fans.

Middleweight Renaissance

Hey Paul,

Looking at the crop of young lions out there, I can’t wait to see what the middleweight division is going to look like in a year or two. We got one Charlo at 160 already and the other may be there in not too long. Then we got Boo Boo headed there and you know Hurd won’t be too far behind because he’s a big dude. Jacobs is already there. Man, this is going to get good.

Hey TL.

Middleweight will be rocking for sure. If anything, it’s pretty much a sure thing that the division will once again be an American hot spot within a year or two. By the end of 2018 or early 2019 we may have both Charlos, Jacobs, Hurd, and Andrade competing full-time at 160 along with the foreign contingent of Golovkin, Alvarez, and Lemieux. For me, Andrade-Charlo could be the best fight in boxing once both establish themselves at their new weight of 160. There is a LOT to look forward to at middleweight.

King of the Hill at 154

Magno

I look forward to seeing what you have to say. Gotta admit I had stopped checking out fight hype so much because all we got was videos and no real insight. Now we got one of the best of the best and someone who don’t pull no punches. I’m back on fight hype every day now.

OK, now to the meat of the matter. You talked about 154 in your Notes from the Underground article. How do you see the division playing out? Who’s gonna be king of the hill of the junior middleweights?

Franklin.

I have no doubt that the big three of Charlo-Lara-Hurd will fight one another in a sort of round robin battle for divisional dominance. Right now, I have to go with Jermell Charlo edging out Erislandy Lara and Jarrett Hurd to become consensus top dog at 154. Lara may reclaim that top spot, though, after both Charlo and Hurd move up to 160. But then we may see Errol Spence and Kell Brook challenge Lara for dominance after both eventually move up in weight from 147. Actually, everything from 147 to 160 looks really interesting right now.

Salty?

Magno. What does Ben Thompson’s nut sack taste like? Looks like he hired himself a hitman to go after all the people he hates and all those who don’t suck off Mayweather and Haymon. And I bet you suck him off after going after all his enemies. You’re still awful though. The worst writer online by far. Pure junk. So I guess a congratulation is in order for finding someone to hire you and pay you when you don’t deserve a dime for the crap you do.

Ben’s nutsack? Hmmmmm….A little salty, a bit sweet….hey, wait, that wasn’t a real question at all! Forget what I just said.

As for the rest…well, all I can say is that, unlike the media creeps and posers you probably follow, I earn my FULL income from writing. I don’t need to prostitute myself for a side gig as a promoter’s lackey or part-time publicist. If anyone is sucking anyone off, it’s those guys who climb all over one another to grab at dirty money dangled over their heads by promoters. They are then ones turning tricks for a payday, not me.
