I’m going to end his career, trust me. There is no doubt about it. I’m going to go in there and end his career," state jr. middleweight contender Nathaniel Gallimore, who talked about his upcoming clash with Julian Williams. Check it out!
PC: The moment you’ve been waiting for is coming on April 7th against Julian Williams. How is preparation? How is everything going?
NG: Man, preparation is going great. I’m having the best training camp that I’ve ever had in my whole boxing career, man. I’m ready! We covered all angles, up and down. We left no stones unturned. We won’t be slowed down. We’re taking everything in the ring with us. We will be fully prepared. If the fight was today, I would be ready.
PC: When you pursue a fight for so long, at one point, it seemed like it was going to happen and then it seemed like it wasn’t. It has to be a great feeling to know that it’s actually happening.
NG: Yes! I’ve been waiting for this fight. I knew this fight was going to happen, but not on my terms. It wasn’t going to happen when I wanted it, but when God wanted to give it to me. I know it’s the right time right now and I’m fully prepared. I’m in a different state of mind right now and I’m focused. I’m really pumped up and confident.
PC: You don’t mind pissing anyone in the division off. You call guys out all of the time on social media and during our interviews. The beauty of boxing is you will have the opportunity to show us come April 7th.
NG: Yeah! These guys nowadays are not truly fighters. They say things out loud, but they don’t really mean it. I mean every single word that come out of my mouth. My word is my bond, so when I say something, that’s what is going to happen. All of these guys, Charlo and all of them, be running their mouth. They are not really tough guys. PC: You even had some static with Ishe Smith earlier in the year.
NG: That’s what I’m saying, guys like him. I had to put him in his place. He came at me because we did the interview and I said Julian Williams should have knocked him out because he’s an old guy and that’s true. He shouldn’t have been going back and forth with this old man. He washed up and he needs to sit down. So he came at me with some words; come on, man, this is the wrong person to bring that to. I ain’t one of these boxers that say something and not going to do nothing about it. They just have a big mouth because it’s the internet or whatever, but when he see me in person, come on. None of that stuff is going to happen.
PC: You told me in the past that you felt Julian Williams was a fragile fighter. Do you feel you have the tools to finish him off if indeed he is a fragile fighter?
NG: Yes I do and come April 7th, the whole world is going to see that. He’s a corny guy. This guy is not a complete fighter. They fed him a bunch of padded record guys to build him up since he started boxing and they put him on a level and when he stepped in front of somebody that can fight, you see what happened. Me right here...this fight is going to be the end fight for him. I’m going to end his career, trust me. There is no doubt about it. I’m going to go in there and end his career. I know it’s going to happen.
PC: You guys are on a card headlined by Erislandy Lara and Jarrett Hurd, two more guys you haven’t had a problem calling out. What are your thoughts on facing the winner or loser for that matter of that fight?
NG: Man, see, this is the opportunity that I’ve been waiting for. The headliner is Lara and Hurd; all of these guys at 154 is mine. 2018 is my year. First, I’m going to take care of business with Julian “Pebbles” Williams and let the world know that he’s not on my level and after that, we’ll talk about those other guys because those other guys is mine. They’ve been getting away for a pretty long time, but this time I’m here. There is no running or ducking me. They can’t run or duck me. They gotta see me.
PC: Is it built-up frustration for you that will be released on the 7th because you thought you were going to fight him when he fought Ishe and you’ve been idle since?
NG: This fight had to happen. He has to see me. It was no other way around it. I’m ranked in the same weight division that he is, so there was nobody else that he could face to get anywhere. He had to face me. He trapped in a corner. I’m here and I’m going to show him that his time is up. It’s my time to shine.
PC: For the people who may have missed the Justin DeLoach fight and this may be their first glimpse at Nathaniel Gallimore, what can they expect in April?
NG: Man, they gonna expect total domination. I’m a totally different fighter, inside and outside of the ring. I got something special cooking up. I can’t reveal anything yet, but the world going to see on April 7th when I put on a spectacular show.
