"We have been contacted by VADA to inform us that there has been an adverse finding in Tyrone Spong’s test. It has been sent to the State of Illinois commission and further information will be released in the morning," wrote promoter Eddie Hearn, who recently took to social media to reveal that Tyrone Spong, the opponent selected to face former undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in his upcoming heavyweight debut, has been popped by VADA for an "adverse finding" related to a banned substance.
No word yet on what specific banned substance triggered the adverse finding or if Spong will be prevented from fighting, however, Hearn also confirmed "reserve opponents standing by." Be sure to check back soon as more details are revealed.
