"Man, everyone calling me saying I did nothing wrong. At the end of the day, I'm a man and you know, I'm gonna defend myself...In 13 years, I have made 7 world champions. Let him tell you how many Roger have made. I didn't get mad until he started talking about get out of my gym. He wasn't about to talk to me like I was his son...I have a lot of people that look up to me like a father figure or just a good friend, so if he doesn't want to treat his daddy like a daddy, then that's fine," stated world-class trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr., who shared his thoughts on the verbal dispute he had with his son that was aired for the world to see this past Saturday on the debut episode of 24/7 Mayweather/Ortiz. Check it out!
PC: What's up Big Floyd? It's good to hear from you, man.
FM: How are you doing Percy? You alright?
PC: I'm good. The better question is how are you doing?
FM: I'm doing good, man. It's been hot down here. It was 112 yesterday and 109 today.
PC: Damn, and y'all have that dry heat. It's been pretty hot here too though. Everything good with you?
FM: Yeah man. I know everyone is talking about that HBO stuff.
PC: That has been the talk of the boxing world. It didn't come off well, man, that's for sure.
FM: Man, everyone calling me saying I did nothing wrong. At the end of the day, I'm a man and you know, I'm gonna defend myself.
PC: How did it all get started?
FM: Man, I just remember sitting there offering advice after a training session and we were all just talking and next thing you know, we was going at it, man. I just don't get a motherfucker who sit there and say him and 50 Cent down for life and until they die and all this fucking shit, and then you talk to ya daddy like a fucking dog?
PC: That's crazy, man.
FM: Yeah man, because I didn't really care about none of that shit he was saying. I've had too many people tell me I'm the best trainer they have ever worked with for me to let that shit bother me. What did [King] Mo say? He said I was the best and everybody I've worked with has said that. He said what champions do I have right now? Fuck, how many champions has Roger ever made? In 13 years, I have made 7 world champions. Let him tell you how many Roger have made. I didn't get mad until he started talking about get out of my gym. He wasn't about to talk to me like I was his son.
PC: Did you have someone there with you that eventually talked you into just leaving?
FM: No man, you know I didn't need anyone with me. And I didn't call anyone to come there either.
PC: Well, I'm glad it didn't come to that because I never want to see a father and son go at it like that. Have you guys patched it up now?
FM: Who? Me and Lil Floyd?
FM: Man, fuck no. I heard Oscar De La Hoya had put something out there about me saying I wasn't in the wrong.
PC: Bernard Hopkins did as well. A lot of people have voiced their opinions; it did not go over well. I spoke with Jeff and he hopes you guys can work it all out. Jeff is a good dude.
FM: Yeah, Jeff don't want any trouble, man. I never want to see my son lose because through all the bullshit, he's still my son.
PC: Well Big Floyd, I really appreciate the call. I'm sure that was something that was on your chest and you wanted to get it off. I sincerely hope you and Lil Floyd can get back on the same page from a father and son standpoint. Nothing to do with boxing; just you and your son acting like father and son, and I know Jeff will do anything to facilitate that.
FM: I appreciate it Percy. You know man, I have a lot of people that look up to me like a father figure or just a good friend, so if he doesn't want to treat his daddy like a daddy, then that's fine. I appreciate guys like you, man, that I can call and say what I gotta say. I needed to talk about it, you know?
PC: Anytime. Enjoy the rest of your day and take care.
FM: Okay Percy. You take care of yourself now.
