MAYWEATHER BLASTS DE LA HOYA; SAYS ORTIZ LOOKS UP TO A DRUG USER AND ADULTERER

In a recent update to his official Twitter page, undefeated pound-for-pound champion Floyd Mayweather commented on future Hall of Famer Oscar De La Hoya's recent admission to infidelity, as well as alcohol and cocaine abuse. "Oscar De la Hoya is trying to stay relevant by admitting to his vices and Victor said he look at that man like 'GOD'," he stated, clearly questioning WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz's choice of role models. It's a valid point as De La Hoya has served as a mentor for Ortiz for a number of years ever since he first signed with Golden Boy Promotions back in 2008.

"De La Hoya is a drug user, dresses like a drag, committed adultery and drinks alcohol and Ortiz looks up to this guy," Mayweather continued, making sure to point out the infamous scandal in 2007, when a series of photos were leaked showing De La Hoya posing in fishnet stockings, high heels, a bra and a skirt. Of course, there's no way of knowing if Victor Ortiz was aware of the Golden Boy's issues at the time, as the whole world was virtually taken by surprise when De La Hoya voluntarily checked himself into rehab just this past May. That being said, from at least 2007 until recently, De La Hoya has admittedly been dealing with his struggles with alcohol, cocaine and infidelity.

"And I don't appreciate how Oscar tried to down my brother Tiger Woods," Mayweather added, referring to De La Hoya's comment, "We are obviously not talking a Tiger Woods here", when he admitted to his infidelity just this past week. It's clear that Mayweather, who often times is portrayed as a villain by the press, believes that more light should be shed on De La Hoya's wrongdoings, especially considering that he's seemingly been given a pass for his past transgressions by many members of the media simply because he finally came clean after lying for so many years.

Let's hope that Mayweather saves some of these comments for the next episode of 24/7 as this will surely bring more entertainment to a series that's becoming somewhat predictable.
