"This has been my best training camp ever. All my team is working hard and great together. I feel stronger, faster, and well prepared for Darren Barker...You can expect a great fight. You will witness the best Sergio Martinez...I want Pacquiao next. It's my ultimate goal in life to become the number one fighter in the world. Since [Julio Cesar] Chavez Jr. keeps avoiding me, I feel I'll never get that chance to recover my WBC middleweight title," stated middleweight king Sergio Martinez, who talked about his upcoming title defense next Saturday night and his future plans. Check it out!
DK: How is training going?
SM: Training is going super. I'm at the end of training camp now. This has been my best training camp ever. All my team is working hard and great together. I feel stronger, faster, and well prepared for Darren Barker.
DK: What can we expect to see from "Maravilla" on October 1st?
SM: You can expect a great fight. You will witness the best Sergio Martinez. With every camp, I feel that I'm getting better, learning more, and gaining more experience.
DK: What is your impression of Darren Barker?
SM: This is Darren Barker's most important fight of his career and he's coming in very motivated. For that reason, it makes him dangerous. He is a very intelligent fighter who loves to fight; that's what's going to make this an interesting and exciting fight.
DK: Should you get past Barker, who do you want to fight next?
SM: I want Pacquiao next. It's my ultimate goal in life to become the number one fighter in the world. Since [Julio Cesar] Chavez Jr. keeps avoiding me, I feel I'll never get that chance to recover my WBC middleweight title.
DK: Any final thoughts to your fans?
SM: Please come to Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City or if you are not in the area tune in to HBO on October 1st. I want to thank all my fans that follow me and support me. I will continue to train hard to always put on a great show. See you October 1st.
