Sources close to the information have informed us that a super featherweight showdown between newly-crowned WBO champion Adrien Broner and top contender Eloy Perez could be added as the co-main event to an HBO doubleheader featuring the welterweight debuts of WBC #1 ranked contender Devon Alexander taking on hard-hitting Argentinian brawler and WBA jr. welterweight champion Marcos Maidana. The event is tentatively schedule to take place on February 25 in Alexander's hometown of St. Louis, Missouri.
Broner is fresh off of a sensational 3rd round knockout of Vicente Martin Rodriguez, who had never been stopped before, in his own hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, capturing the vacant WBO super featherweight title in the process. Perez, on the ohter hand, is coming off of a 6th round stoppage of Ira Terry, who had also been stopped in four fights prior to that bout. Alexander last fought back in June, winning a hard-fought split decision victory over knockout artist Lucas Matthysse, while Maidana successfully defended his title in September, scoring a 4th round knockout of Petr Petrov.
