Kickboxing legend Badr Hari is all set to make his move to boxing. He will be coming to the States this week to begin training with world-class trainer Naazim Richardson in Philadelphia. Hari, who amassed a 78-11 record that included 64 knockouts, ended his kickboxing career in emphatic fashion by stopping Gokhan Saki in round one, dropping him 3 times under the "It's Showtime" banner. He previously met with Richardson in Germany back in October of last year and the two seemed to hit it off well. Both Hari and Richardson had nothing but great things to say about each other and seemed enthusiastic about the possibility of becoming a great duo in the sport of boxing.
Although they have yet to get in the gym and work on boxing related things, Richardson seemed very excited to work with Hari, noting that not only does he have the physical tools, but he also has the right mentality, which is already where it needs to be to compete in the heavyweight division. Hari, who stands 6'6", weighs in around 235 pounds, and has garnered the reputation of being kickboxing's bad boy, feels he has accomplished all there is to accomplish in the sport and is ready for a new challenge. Richardson will be a very busy man in the coming months, not only working with Badr Hari, but also preparing Bernard Hopkins for his April rematch against Chad Dawson as well as preparing Shane Mosley to face Saul Alvarez in May.
Stay tuned to FightHype for much more on both Richardson and Hari.
