Once again, the San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino in Highland California played host to the latest edition of King of the Cage. Two titles exchanged hands and two 170-pounders scored big wins, getting them one step closer to their own title shots. The main event featured a rematch of last May's King of the Cage welterweight title clash between then champion Aaron Wetherspoon (7-3) and challenger Anthony Lapsley (12-3). Their first encounter featured a rare and bizarre double knockout, where a violent clash of heads would send both fighters to the ground and unable to continue the fight. The bout was ruled a No Contest. The second time around, however, there was a clear winner.

Both Lapsley and Wetherspoon came out throwing hard leather. After a couple of exhchanges, Lapsley took the fight to the ground where there was a quick scramble. That's all he needed to seize the moment as Lapsley saw the perfect opportunity to apply the perfect submission, a modified keylock (officially ruled an armbar), at 1:34 of the first round. Just like that, a new welterweight champion was crowned in very impressive fashion.

In the co-main event, the light welterweight title was up for grabs as champion Joe Camacho (10-13-3) came in to defend his title against challenger Vic "Joe Boxer" Valenzuela (7-2-2). The fight was an all-out, stand-up war with very little time spent on the ground. Both fighters showed huge hearts and solid chins. They both had their moments, but at 2:14 of the 2nd round, Joe Boxer unleashed a devastating left hook to the face and followed it up with an equally debilitating left hook to the liver. Again, just like that, the fight was over and a new champion was crowned.

In other welterweight action, top-5 King of the Cage contender Mike "The Joker" Guymon (8-2-1), from Lake Forest, California, ground-and-pounded his was to an extremely impressive victory over former KOTC champion James Fanshier (15-9-1). The fight was officially scored a TKO victory at 2:54 of the 1st round. With the win, Guyman should definitely be on the fast track for a title shot against newly crowned 170 lbs. Champion Anthony Lapsley.
