Later this month, former heavyweight champion Chris Byrd will be heading to Austria to help WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko prepare for his upcoming title defense against Juan Carlos Gomez on March 21st.
Earlier this week, Byrd sparred for the first time since injuring his shoulder in a 9th round loss to Shaun George in May of last year, a bout that took place at light heavyweight after Byrd shed nearly 40 pounds. Byrd, who admits that the drastic weight loss had an impact on his performance, plans to make a return to the ring in the near future as a cruiserweight.
