"One thing about it, man, they can believe Pacquiao is as great as they want to, but he has to fight the fight on May 2nd. I said it before and I ain't going to stop saying it. Hatton is going to kick his ass. They gonna see. People talk all this and that about Freddie Roach, but Pacquiao could be a better fighter if he had a different trainer," stated world-renowned trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. as he shared his thoughts on Manny Pacquiao and the upcoming clash with Ricky Hatton. As usual, you definitely don't want to miss what else he had to say about Pacquiao, De La Hoya and much more.
PC: I've received a ton of emails asking to have you on the site more and just commenting on how they enjoy the interviews because you're a straight shooter.
FM: I appreciate it. That's just the way I am, man. People don't want to read phony answers with people saying what they think people want to hear. I ain't Emanuel Steward or none of them guys, man. He says what he thinks people want to hear. I don't give a damn. I'm going to be me, man. That's the only way I know how to be. I'm going to say what I have to say and people can like it or not like it, but I'm going to say it.
PC: Well you definitely have your share of supporters on the website. One guy asked if I could get you on more and I think we have you on more than any other site.
FM: That's good stuff there, man.
PC: One guy wanted to know how you and Bernard Hopkins would work together if you were in his corner because he felt you guys were 2 of the greatest minds in boxing.
FM: Oh yeah! I like Bernard. He's been good for the sport. But I appreciate all of them man. They don't ever have to worry about me beating around the bush or not speaking my mind. I'm a straight shooter. Don't get me wrong, its some things that I don't want out and I tell you it's off the record, but that don't happen too damn often.
PC: You're right, it doesn't (laughing). Manny Pacquiao has his diehard fans that give you a tough time though. They think you talk too much.
FM: Who? Pacquiao fans?
PC: Yeah! They want you to be quiet.
FM: Well that ain't going to happen. I'm going to keep talking. One thing about it, man, they can believe Pacquiao is as great as they want to, but he has to fight the fight on May 2nd. I said it before and I ain't going to stop saying it. Hatton is going to kick his ass. They gonna see. People talk all this and that about Freddie Roach, but Pacquiao could be a better fighter if he had a different trainer. What has Freddie Roach done? You can't say he trained James Toney and you damn sure can't say he trained Mike Tyson. And I look at Pacquiao and he could be a lot better fighter than what he is right now if he didn't have him (Freddie Roach).
PC: So the "Hitman" is going to be ready, huh?
FM: You gonna see it. I'm telling you man, Hatton is going to kick Manny Pacquiao's ass!
PC: It's no secret you think Roach is overrated.
FM: Man, let me tell you something man. The only reason he is in the Hall of Fame is because he's sick. That's it man.
PC: Speaking of health issues, Brother Naazim told me to tell you he hopes you are doing well and you overcome your illness. How have you been healthwise?
FM: Tell him thanks. I've been doing pretty good with the liver disease, but I had a problem with my colon man. You knew about that, right?
PC: No man. That must have happened right after I talked to you. You gotta hit me up when stuff like that is going on my man; have someone call me.
FM: I will man. I definitely will start keeping you posted. But yeah man, the ambulance had to come and get me. I was hospitalized for 4 days man. I'm doing ok now though and the doctor said he's going to see me again before I go to England to train Ricky. I'm ready for that one. I gotta be all the way right.
PC: I hear you my man.
FM: What were people saying about what I said about Oscar?
PC: For the most part, people agreed that he should definitely be paying you more.
FM: Yeah man! But I tell you what, if he wants to fight again, he's going to have to come to me. I don't care if he comes to me or not, but it would be in his best interest to come to me because you see what happened to him when he goes in another direction. He's going to have to kiss a little ass if he comes back this way though. I've been down that road with him. He's going to have to spread that money out man. I deserve it. He can't do me like that no more man. He's going to have to respect me. He took an old school ass whoopin' and unless he's trying to take some more of them, he would have to try to get back with me. But he's going to have to come right this time.
PC: Do your thing my man. I just try to catch you from time to time and give your fans their fix. Take care of yourself though and keep me posted.
FM: (Laughing) Sounds good man. You take care Percy.
