"All fights start standing up, which is my advantage. Kimbo would get knocked out trying to take me to the ground. A lot of people forget I was a street fighter before I became a boxer. I was so good at fighting on the street, people said you should start boxing," stated former heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman as he talks about a move into the world of mixed martial arts and a possible fight with Kimbo Slice. Check out what else he had to say.
PC: How has everything been going Rock?
HR: Everything is going great.
PC: So you're making the move over to MMA. Is this something you have been thinking about for awhile?
HR: No. I am a fighter. I am open to all opportunities.
PC: Obviously you follow MMA to want to make this move. How long have you been a fan of the sport?
HR: I don't follow MMA, but it's obviously a force to be reckoned with. I am open to all fights.
PC: When would you like to make your debut and have you talked to any organizations?
HR: Soon as someone is man enough to fight me. We are talking to a lot of organizations.
PC: You obviously have the standup skills to box with anyone. Once you start training, will you train everything but hands since you have that skill down already?
HR: I am ready to fight anyone. I will prepare in the best way to overcome any obstacle.
PC: Where would you like to train your MMA techniques at? Do you have a gym picked out already?
HR: I am preparing at a private gym.
PC: Does this mean you're done boxing and will be fighting mixed martial arts full-time now?
HR: Absolutely not. I will entertain fights in either arena.
PC: You took the Klitschko fight on very short notice and still went 7 rounds. Do you think it's tougher to fight twelve 3-minute rounds of just punching or three 5-minute rounds of punching, kicks, takedowns and submissions?
HR: Both are very tough.
PC: I know you're pursuing a fight with Kimbo Slice, but would you take that fight as your MMA debut?
HR: Absolutely!
PC: How do you see a fight between you and Kimbo playing out?
HR: I see him getting knocked out quick!
PC: This is actually a fight where most people would feel he has an advantage on the ground. How do you feel about that?
HR: All fights start standing up, which is my advantage. Kimbo would get knocked out trying to take me to the ground. A lot of people forget I was a street fighter before I became a boxer. I was so good at fighting on the street, people said you should start boxing.
PC: Is there any way possible Kimbo stands and bangs with you for 15 minutes?
HR: He wouldn't have the heart to do something stupid like that.
PC: Is there going to be a process to where you will have to throw your punches differently with the 4 oz. gloves?
HR: I will prepare in the best way to overcome my obstacles.
PC: Thanks for your time my man. Good luck in pursuing a career in MMA. Put the MMA heavyweights on notice my man!
HR: Thanks Percy! Thanks for letting everyone know of the upcoming storm ahead. God willing, I can deliver the most devastating KO's the fans have ever seen.
