"There's been a lot of talk about June 27th for the world title against Andreas Kotelnik. Great fighter, but I'll be ready," stated hot jr. welterweight contender Vitctor Ortiz as he talked about his future plans to face Andreas Kotelnik. Check out what else he had to say about the fight, his thoughts on Pacquiao vs. Hatton and much more.
TS: I wanted to ask your opinion of this fight coming up, Pacquiao vs. Hatton. How do you fell about it?
VO: First of all, I just hate going against people or any sides, but, you know, Manny's a good friend of mine. So is Ricky, but I know Manny a little better. I know that he's powerful, he's speedy, but at the same time, I can't predict the fight. It's going to be a war for sure because I know they both train very hard and I just gotta give props to both of them. I don't want to put anyone down, but I love Pacquiao and that's all I gotta say.
TS: He's an awesome fighter.
VO: Yeah.
TS: So what's going on next with you? When are you fighting again?
VO: There's been a lot of talk about June 27th for the world title against Andreas Kotelnik. Great fighter, but I'll be ready!
TS: How do you feel about that?
VO: You know, like I said, I'll be in the gym and I'll be ready.
TS: I normally ask this for a lot of mixed martial arts fighters, but what are your eating habits when training and preparing for a fight?
VO: Well, when I'm on training...I can't really give you specifics 'cause we'll be here all day, but it's really healthy. When I'm not training, it's a mix between healthy and unhealthy. From the Taco Bell to Rubio's to, I don't know, McDonald's, Burger King, back to Subway, to Quiznos. A lot of Thai, Sushi.
TS: Talking about mixed martial arts, do you follow the sport?
VO: I really don't. I'm not going to lie. Actually, to tell you the truth, I really don't follow any boxing, unless they're in my weight class, and of course I have to keep up within my weight range. There's a lot of good fighters.
TS: So you don't follow the sport that much. Do you have any favorite fighters you kind of watch from time to time?
VO: No, no. I love Sugar Shane Mosley. Bernard Hopkins, he's like my idol. Growing up, it was Fernando Vargas. And of course, last, but not least, Oscar De La Hoya. That's the man. I've always admired him, you know. And, shoot, Pacquiao, you gotta love that guy. He's bad. I like him. I like how he is. I can respect that.
TS: Alright, well thank you so much for taking the time to interview with me. I really appreciate it. Good luck on your next fight.
VO: Thank you.
