HOPKINS-TRINIDAD REMATCH ON NOVEMBER 28?By Ben Thompson | May 05, 2009
Sources close to the situation have informed us that three-division world champion Felix "Tito" Trinidad has enlisted the services of a strength-and-conditioning coach to begin preparations for a showdown with the first man to defeat him, Bernard Hopkins. The rematch is said to be tentatively scheduled for November 28th at Madison Square Garden.
Last month, Trinidad met with promoter Don King in Puerto Rico to discuss the future of his boxing career. "We are going to do the rematch with Bernard Hopkins; the rematch that Tito Trinidad is missing," King announced.
Trinidad last fought in January, 2008 when he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Roy Jones Jr. Going into that fight, Trinidad was coming off of a 32-month layoff from the squared circle. If the rematch with Hopkins does indeed take place on November 28, Trinidad will be coming off of a 22-month layoff this time around.
