Earlier today, FightHype was contacted by Kevin Cunningham, trainer of WBC jr. welterweight champion Devon Alexander. "I hear Marquez wants a title shot at 140. We would love to give him a chance to make history by facing Devon," he stated as he offered Marquez a future clash with the newly crowned champion.
Marquez, the lightweight champion of the world, recently moved up two weight divisions to challenge a man much bigger than him in Floyd Mayweather Jr. Although he lost the bout, Marquez, who weighed in at 142 pounds, said he felt comfortable at the weight and might consider a permanent move to the 140-pound division to attempt to make history by becoming the first Mexican to win world titles in four different weight classes. Newly crowned jr. welterweight champion Devon Alexander, who won his title last month with an impressive 8th round stoppage of Junior Witter, would love to give the Mexican legend his opportunity to make history.
