FLOYD MAYWEATHER SR.: "WHY DOES EVERYONE WANT TO SEE A PACQUIAO FIGHT"

FLOYD MAYWEATHER SR.:

"I seen where Freddie Roach was saying he wasn't impressed and that it was boring, but let me tell you something, the only reason Freddie Roach was bored because it wasn't close," stated Floyd Mayweather Sr. as he responded to comments made by Freddie Roach in regards to his son's most recent performance. Somewhat irritated by the criticism of the lopsided 12-round unanimous decision victory, Mayweather Sr. shared his opinion on why his son's fight with Juan Manuel Marquez looked so effortless. "People loved Pacquiao's two fights with Marquez because they were wars and very close fights that I know Marquez won, at least one of them, but Lil Floyd is on a different playing field," he continued.

Mayweather Sr. also pointed out that fans and members of the media who believe Lil Floyd was too big for Marquez should be less than eager to see Manny Pacquiao step into the ring with his son. "If my son was too big for Marquez then why does everyone want to see a Pacquiao fight? Hell, Marquez just fought Pacquiao a year ago and dealt with him," he added, "You mean to tell me Pacquiao has grown that much in a year? What? Marquez shrunk?"

Despite the fact that Manny Pacquiao has continued to improve and impress under the guidance of Freddie Roach, Mayweather Sr. still believes that he holds the title of "Best Trainer" and feels that you can't compare the abilities of both men based on the bout between Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton, a clash that saw both trainers in opposite corners. "Man, Hatton just wouldn't do right and honestly, he wasn't the athlete to beat Pacquiao," he remarked, "But now, let's match our talents now that I have a talent in my son. Not even close. Fact of the matter is Pacquiao will never be in a boring fight with Marquez because it will always come down to the wire."

As the trainers of the two best fighters in the sport continue to fire shots at each other, the hype for this matchup continues to grow. If this fight ever comes to fruition, I wouldn't be surprised to see Mayweather Promotions and Top Rank Promotions put the press conference tour on pay-per-view. The animosity between Mayweather Sr. and Roach is enough to demand a $24.99 price tag on its own.
