"I'm going for Cotto, not because we're both Puerto Rican, but because I believe Cotto's stronger and he's a more technical fighter. So yeah, I'm going with Cotto because of his power and his technique...I just don't see how Cotto is going to lose this fight," state Don Felix, father and trainer of the last legendary Puerto Rican fighter Felix "Tito" Trinidad, as he shared his thoughts on this weekend's anticipated clash between WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto and pound-for-pound champion Manny Pacquiao. Although Papa Trinidad is picking his fellow Puerto Rican to win, there's another fighter out there who he believes is truly the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world and you don't want to miss what he had to say. Check it out!
PC: Who do you think will win the Pacquiao-Cotto fight and why?
FT: I'm going for Cotto, not because we're both Puerto Rican, but because I believe Cotto's stronger and he's a more technical fighter. So yeah, I'm going with Cotto because of his power and his technique.
PC: How do you compare Cotto's popularity and support amongst Puerto Rican fans to that of Tito's?
FT: This event doesn't compare. It compares with some of Tito's events, but if you're asking me if it compares to Tito and Oscar, there's no comparison. That was two undefeated world champions. Cotto hasn't had as many big fights as Tito.
PC: What do you think the outcome of the fight will be? Will Cotto knock him out or will it go to the scorecards?
FT: I think he's going to win, but I can't say if it's going to be by decision or knockout. Cotto has the power to knock him out, but either way, I'm going with him. I just don't see how Cotto is going to lose this fight.
PC: Who do you consider to be the best pound-for-pound fighter in boxing right now.
FT: Floyd Mayweather Jr. I have no doubt. Mayweather is the best.
PC: Any chance we'll ever see Tito back in the ring again?
FT: No. In my opinion, I don't think Tito will fight again. I think the people of Puerto Rico are satisfied with his accomplishments and just believe that he should stay retired.
PC: Thank you for your time Don Felix. I appreciate it.
FT: No problem. Any time.
