Cotto looked cut at the weigh-ins. He was in good shape and I was in the locker room with him when he was hitting pads and warming up and he had energy, man. He was cracking the pads and he looked really great. He came out much stronger than I thought he would out of the gate and he looked good. Hats off to Pacquiao! That guy is a hell of a fighter! It was his night and it wasn't Cotto's. There is nothing to say because it was a solid victory for Pacquiao. He made no mistakes in the fight.
I think Cotto could have maybe come out with a better strategy and potentially give Pacquiao a run for his money, but Pacquiao came in with the better strategy and won the fight and my hat is off to him. He is a great champion, a great warrior and a very humble guy. I got nothing but love for Pacquiao; same for Cotto in defeat. That guy is a true champion and a true warrior. It's an honor and a privilege for me to spend time with a guy like Cotto, who is so brave and courageous.
I see everyone saying his corner should have stopped the fight and maybe they should've, but I don't think they know what kind of guy Cotto is. He's not in the corner trying to check out of the fight and get it stopped. He was in there saying, "I'm good. Let me go," and he means that. He doesn't have quit in him. He doesn't know how to give up or when to stop. He is so tough and that's what makes it so hard for me to watch a guy like Cotto, who I love so much, get in a situation where he gets beat up like that, but he is fine. I saw him right after the fight and he's all good. He is totally good and I am so proud of him. He's a guy I have been behind forever. We are still 100% supportive of Miguel Cotto. We are with him now and are proud proud sponsors of him now and we will remain that way for as long as he will have us.
