MARK CUBAN: "I LIKE FLOYD; NOTHING MORE TO SAY!"

By Percy Crawford | December 17, 2009
MARK CUBAN:

"This is a great time for boxing, MMA, K-1 and combat sports in general. I think we are going to see it become more mainstream in 2010 and more back-and-forth with boxers and MMA fighters," stated Mark Cuban, billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks, as he shared his thoughts on his team, Tiger Woods, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and much more. Check it out!

PC: The NBA season has started since the last time we talked. How do you feel about the way your Mavericks are playing up to this point?

MC: We are off to a good start considering all the injuries we have had. I'm excited to see us with a full squad.

PC: Were you ever interested in bringing Allen Iverson in?

MC: No! We don't even have a roster spot to have considered it.

PC: You were recently on Pardon the Interruption where you said you have no problem with kids going from high school over to these foreign leagues that pay. Why do you feel so strongly about that?

MC: Because there is no NCAA hypocrisy overseas. You can go to school, work on your chosen dream profession and get paid, all at the same time, which is exactly what you can do in the USA, unless your dream is to become a professional athlete.

PC: I agree with that. Also on that show, Michael Wilbon stated you are slightly older than him. How in the hell do you stay in such great shape man?

MC: I do at least an hour of cardio six times a week and usually more than that 3 or 4 times a week. I could get by with less if I weren't such a pig with a huge sweet tooth.

PC: You were also on WWE recently, where you were slammed through a table. Any injuries from that or are you okay?

MC: I'm fine. I was sore for a while, but that was a reminder that put a smile on my face. It's fun to be sore when it comes from something like that, going through a table.

PC: How important is it that you continue to do fun things like that and stay active?

MC: Very. Like I told someone, I want to channel my inner Ferris Bueller. We only get one chance to have fun. I want to be an expert at it.

PC: I want to ask you a quick question about Tiger Woods. As professional athletes, these guys choose to be in the limelight, but where do you separate their professional from their private life Mark? Do you think the media should back off?

MC: That's like asking if I think dollars should cost 50 cents. This is the world we live in. Everyone has to deal with it.

PC: I understand you made a call to Floyd Mayweather Jr. to discuss the Pacquiao fight taking place in Dallas. Could you tell us what was said?

MC: Uh, no!

PC: (Laughing) That would be a huge event for the city of Dallas though. What are the chances of you guys getting it?

MC: I don't know.

PC: Okay, you won't give me any details on the venue. Can I get a prediction? Pacquiao has been a hot fighter. Who do you like in that fight and why?

MC: I like Floyd; nothing more to say.

PC: I know you are an entrepreneur to the fullest extent of the word. Do you have anything big that you are working on for 2010?

MC: I dont really think or plan that way. I just try to stay up to speed on my core competencies and from there, be opportunistic.

PC: It's always a pleasure and an honor to speak with you. Thanks for your honesty as always. Wish the team good luck from FightHype.com, but take it easy on my Hornets. Is there anything you want to say in closing?

MC: This is a great time for boxing, MMA, K-1 and combat sports in general. I think we are going to see it become more mainstream in 2010 and more back-and-forth with boxers and MMA fighters.
