THE POWER OF PACQUIAO PROMPTS UFC PRESIDENT TO PROMOTE BOXING

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that UFC President Dana White would help promote boxing, but that's exactly what he did today when he informed his followers on Twitter that he was attending Manny Pacquiao's WBO welterweight title defense against Joshua Clottey. Blasting out a message to over 1 million followers (1,011,498 to be exact), White notified fans that he was going to the fight this weekend in Dallas because "Pac man never disappoints."

White, who's become extremely popular for giving out free UFC tickets to fans via his Twitter account, took it a step further when he announced that he contacted the Top Rank offices and secured 10 pairs of tickets that he plans on giving away to "10 lucky fuckers!" Say what you will about his choice of words, but Dana White is a man who loves his fans.

The fact that Dana White would even mention the Pacquiao vs. Clottey card to his extremely large audience of followers may come as a surprise to many diehard fans of MMA. While I'm sure Bob Arum, the legendary boxing promoter who's staging the event, appreciates the fact that White is supporting and helping promote his card, UFC fans might look at the move as being hypocritical. After all, it wasn't that long ago when Arum bashed the UFC, referring to the fighters as "guys rolling around like homosexuals" and the fans as "a bunch of skinhead white guys."

Regardless, as a fight fan, it's nice to see that Dana White does indeed appreciate a good boxing match, even if the opponent, Joshua Clottey, is a huge underdog and many expect him to lose via mid-round stoppage. Only the power of Pacquiao could make the president of the biggest mixed martial arts organization in the world take time out of his busy schedule to watch him fight. Now that is impressive! I wonder exactly how many Mayweather fights Dana White has attended.
