As the countdown continues, Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum has already scheduled an international media conference call on Satuday, July 17, beginning at 3AM ET/Midnight PT. Coincidentally, or not, that time coincides with the deadline given to Floyd Mayweather to agree to terms for a November 13 clash with Manny Pacquiao. Exactly what Arum plans on discussing is a mystery, however, given that no members from Team Mayweather were listed as participants, it's highly unlikely that he'll be revealing that the highly-anticipated showdown is a done deal. Instead, expect Arum to give an explanation on how they did everything possible to make the fight a reality, but due to Mayweather's reluctance to accept their final terms, Team Pacquiao was left with no other option but to move on.
The question is who will Pacquiao face instead? Seeing as how Arum has already had lengthy discussions with representatives of both Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito, also Top Rank fighters, one can assume that he might take the opportunity to inform the media of exactly who will be standing in the ring with Pacquiao on November 13. If I had to make a guess, I'd say it's going to be Antonio Margarito. With Pacquiao already scoring impressive victories over Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez and Oscar De La Hoya, Margarito is one of the last remaining Mexican world champions that he has yet to face. With the 12-round beatdown of Miguel Cotto still fresh in fans' heads, it's likely still a little too early to attempt to make a rematch.
