Three days ago, on September 11, boxing fans discovered that Floyd Mayweather was engaged to get married. The news, which seemingly came out of nowhere, was announced by rapper and longtime friend 50 Cent, who revealed via a Twitter update that Mayweather had asked him to be Best Man at the wedding. So who's the lucky lady? Good question. Fortunately, 50 Cent provided the answer, giving the world her name, Shantel Jackson, as well as a few pictures of her. Still, little is known about the woman who allegedly will become Mrs. "Money" Mayweather. Ironically, or mysteriously depending on what you believe, a brand new Twitter page was created for Shantel Jackson on the very same day that the boxing community learned of her existance in Mayweather's life.
Since the creation of her Twitter page, Shantel, or Miss Jackson if you're nasty, has become a lot more vocal about her relationship with the undefeated boxer. Her first order of business was to let her fiance know how to find her. "Hey money this is the real ms. j follow me on twitter baby," she posted shortly after the page was created. Of course, it seems odd that she would have to contact Mayweather via Twitter to let him know which page was hers, but I digress. Next, she would declare her love for the sport of boxing. "I'm in love with boxing," she posted, along with a picture of a tattoo that she affectionately referred to as the "Mrs. Mayweather tat." It's the same tattoo that 50 Cent described as having "41 hearts for the 41 wins that Floyd got" during a recent appearance on Sirius Satellite Radio station Shade45.
Once she got the hang of posting tweets, it didn't take long for other members of Mayweather's entourage to welcome her to the world of Twitter. Mayweather's CEO of Philthy Rich Records, "P-REALA", and his personal driver, "Miguel AKA 53", both encouraged their followers to follow her as well, while 50 Cent continued to post images of her, praising her beauty while congratulating the "happy couple." At one point, as if to make it official, Miss Jackson herself posted another picture of her and Mayweather spending time together. "Hitting the twitter world up with an exclusive Mr and Mrs Money Mayweather pic," she tweeted.
Assuming this is real and Mayweather truly is getting married, the all-important question is when is the wedding date? Already making a name for herself despite being unheard of just two weeks ago, the future Mrs. "Money" Mayweather did disappoint, providing the answer. "I just want to tell everybody on twitter thanks for the support, and everything willing my wedding date is january 17, 2011," she tweeted earlier today. Wow! This relationship appears to be moving faster and faster with every new tweet. Since Shantel Jackson appears to be doing a lot more talking than Mayweather himself, perhaps she can now let us know when he might appear inside of a boxing ring again.
