FROM PILLAR TO POST: CAN'T SAY I DIDN'T TELL YOU SO ABOUT FERNANDO AND NONITO

A few months ago, I reported that Showtime's desire to make a Super Six Bantamweight tournament fell apart thanks to Top Rank not wanting to include Nonito Donaire and Fernando Montiel in the big dance. While Top Rank claimed that it wanted to make a fight between the two a reality, I could tell from a mile away that they wouldn't fight at all considering how risky of a fight Montiel is for Nonito "Don't Call Me Pacquiao" Donaire.

Donaire and Montiel are now facing off on separate cards, with Donaire taking on light hitting former champion Wladmir Sidorenko in December and Montiel fighting in October against some tomato can yet to be announced. This Montiel-Donaire mess is eerily looking like the Gamboa-Lopez situation, where Top Rank is a little too nervous to let their own fighters take each other on.

Martinez-Williams II Inbound, 2010 Saved?

Thankfully, Paul Williams has decided to grow a pair of balls and get back in the ring to face off against Sergio Martinez in a rematch of last years epic clash in which Williams won by a close, but terribly scored decision. Martinez dusted off Kelly Pavlik to win the Middleweight title earlier this year and has been hoping that Williams was going to step up and fight him again.

Taking a page from the Pacquiao camp, Williams only agreed to fight with a catchweight of 157 pounds, and seeing that Martinez had nothing else lined up, the champion caved in. Considering how poor Williams looked against Kermit Cintron last May, perhaps attempting to fluctuate between weight classes one time too many, expect Martinez to exact revenge in another great fight.

De La Hoya Intrigued In Buying The Dodgers?

Oscar De La Hoya may seriously consider throwing his name into the mix to buy out the Dodgers should the team go on sale after a costly divorce between the husband and wife owners. I have to say that if De La Hoya does in fact buy the Dodgers, it will give the west coast the chance to put on some pretty nice fights in Dodger Stadium, thus branch out from the casinos like Top Rank has been trying to do.

Then again, while the stadium environment may be nice, it'd be up to Golden Boy Promotions to make due with the good fights; a task that appears to be much easier said than done for them. Oh well, good luck Oscar!
