REJUVENATED KASSIM OUMA TARGETS FELIX STURM

"I'm happy to be back in the ring. I went to Joey Gilbert's hometown and knocked his ass out. That's what I'm about now," stated former jr. middleweight champion Kassim Ouma, fresh off of his 6th round TKO victory over Joey Gilbert in Reno, Nevada. Ouma, who was coming off of back-to-back controversial decision losses, was determined not to let his bout with Gilbert make it to the scorecards. After tasting the canvas himself in the 5th round, Ouma came out guns blazing in the 6th, unleashing a relentless attack that would send Gilbert to the canvas and ultimately into retirement. With the win, the victory earned Ouma the NABA middleweight title, but he's already targeting his next opponent in hopes of picking up a more recognized belt.

"I'm looking forward to getting back in the ring and going for the WBA Middleweight title against Felix Sturm. My people are trying to get that fight for me," Ouma continued, revealing that his move up in weight is a permanent one.  In fact, Ouma is eager to test his skills against the current kingpin of the division. "I feel stronger at 160 now. I'm looking forward to staying at middleweight and then get the best in the middleweight division, Sergio Martinez."

As odd as it may sound, Ouma's win over former Contender star Gilbert has rejuvenated a career that appeared to be nearly done after going 5-5 in his last 10 bouts. Not only did it breathe life back into his career, but it also inspired Ouma to rededicate himself and remain focused on the sport. "I am staying in the gym, staying in shape, waiting for my next fight. I want to thank my fans all over the world," he added. "I love you, and for those who believed in me, I told you I would be back and I am here and I'm making it happen and I look forward to making it happen again."
