FLOYD MAYWEATHER SR: "MARGARITO KNOWS HE BETTER NOT WIN"

By Percy Crawford | November 02, 2010
FLOYD MAYWEATHER SR:

"No, I haven't watched it, but I heard Pacquiao was talking...He said something about he doesn't care if the fight with Floyd happens because look what he's done in his career compared to Floyd. The only thing he has done that Floyd hasn't done is lose 3 times and be knocked out twice. People want to make it like his losses were so long ago, but shit, Morales beat him 5 years ago. Floyd ain't never lost. People can't even name the guys that knocked Pacquiao out...Margarito knows he better not win that fight. I'm going to tell you the truth man; it doesn't matter if he lay down or not, Pacquiao still gonna whoop his ass," stated world-class trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. as he shared his thoughts on the November 13 showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito, as well as the latest installment of the HBO series 24/7, and much more. Check it out!

PC: How is it going Big Floyd?

FM: Everything is going good. I'm just taking it slow right now. I'm training a few guys here and there, but I'm really concentrating on getting this book out.

PC: How is that coming along?

FM: I'm taking my time with it, man. I'm not rushing because I want to make sure I get all that's coming to me. I spoke to my attorney today and we're making sure everything is right. But when the book comes out, a lot of people are going to get to know a lot about me, man. I have a lot to say and I think it's going to be a good project.

PC: Have you watched the Margarito/Pacquiao 24/7 yet?

FM: No, I haven't watched it, but I heard Pacquiao was talking shit. He said something about he doesn't care if the fight with Floyd happens because look what he's done in his career compared to Floyd. The only thing he has done that Floyd hasn't done is lose 3 times and be knocked out twice. People want to make it like his losses were so long ago, but shit, Morales beat him 5 years ago. Floyd ain't never lost. People can't even name the guys that knocked Pacquiao out. Not because it was a long time ago, but because they were fucking nobodies.

PC: Do you feel like your brother Roger in thinking that Margarito will come to lay down?

FM: Margarito knows he better not win that fight. I'm going to tell you the truth man; it doesn't matter if he lay down or not, Pacquiao still gonna whoop his ass. Margarito ain't never been shit man; then you make this motherfucker suck down to 150 and he really ain't gonna be shit.

PC: Margarito has a sponsorship deal with Affliction and from what I understand, the only way he gets paid is if he wins. With that being said, you still don't believe in him?

FM: He can get ready to not be paid then (laughing). I'm just telling you the truth man.

PC: This is a completely different subject, but I have always been curious to know, if you could have worked with any fighter from any era, who would it have been?

FM: You know, I would have liked to work with Ray Robinson. I also would have liked to work with Meldrick Taylor, and although I fought him before, I would have liked to train Sugar Ray Leonard. I like working with guys with speed and all of those guys fit that mold.

PC: I don't think I've ever seen a Mayweather work with a heavyweight. Is that something that interests you?

FM: You know man, there are truly none out there. I would like to work with a heavyweight, but these guys...it's bad in that division man.

PC: I hear you. Zab Judah has a fight coming up this Saturday...

FM: (Cutting in) Zab fight this weekend?

PC: Yeah, on HBO.

FM: On HBO?

PC: Yeah!

FM: On HBO (laughing). Nah, I ain't gonna say he gonna get whooped because I don't know much about the guy he's fighting, but I heard he can punch and that can't fair good for Zab. I know he's been around here in Vegas training, but I didn't know his fight was that close. He better take advantage of this shot though.

PC: Realistically, how much longer do you see yourself training?

FM: Realistically man, I couldn't really tell you because some days I wake up feeling good and then some days I wake up feeling bad. This disease I have is serious man, so I guess as long as I can hold up. I value life and if it gets too bad, then I will have to step away, but I don't know when that will be. It's hard to say right now.

PC: Thanks for your time. I will speak to you next week and we can talk about Zab's fight, as well as Lopez/Marquez.

FM: Alright, no problem. Take care of yourself.
