MAYHEM MILLER: "OBVIOUSLY NICK DIAZ IS NOT AS DUMB AS HE ACTS!"

By Percy Crawford | November 04, 2010
MAYHEM MILLER:

"I already let the cat out of the bag by telling everybody that I'm fighting on it, but yeah man, I fight on it, Eddie Alvarez fights on it, Daniel Cormier beats up a bully for me, and we even had a special female bully addition where Michelle Waterson beats up this mean girl...The latest is www.dontbescaredhomie.com. It's a brand new website to let everyone know that somebody is scared and it ain't me...He will not fight against me, but he will go up and do it against somebody else. Obviously Nick Diaz is not as dumb as he acts," stated Strikeforce middleweight contender Jason "Mayhem" Miller, who talked about the season premiere of Bully Beatdown, which returns tonight for it's 3rd season at 11PM ET on MTV. The always outspoken and entertaining Miller shared highlights that fans can expect to see this season and discussed the future plans for his own career, including a potential clash with Strikforce middleweight champion Nick Diaz. Check it out!

PC: How is everything going Mayhem?

MM: Pretty bad ass. I got a brand new season of "Bully Beatdown" coming out today. Wow, it really snuck up on me. It will air today at 11:00. Be sure to check it out.

PC: And I understand you're not just hosting, but you actually beat a bully up this year.

MM: Yep. They let me off the chain man. I get in there and I beat up a bully personally. It's probably the best episode we've ever did.

PC: What is it like for you seeing these guys that think because they are a tough street fighter, that they can make the transition into MMA and fight professionals?

MM: It's what makes the show so funny. There are guys that really think they can do this. They really think they can walk in off of the street with no fighting experience and beat someone with fighting experience up, you know?

PC: I spoke to Eddie Alvarez and he told me he's beating up bullies this season. Can you give us a few more names or do we have to tune in?

MM: Yeah, I mean, I already let the cat out of the bag by telling everybody that I'm fighting on it, but yeah man, I fight on it, Eddie Alvarez fights on it, Daniel Cormier beats up a bully for me, and we even had a special female bully addition where Michelle Waterson beats up this mean girl. It was pretty amazing.

PC: Have you heard of any success stories, from the other seasons, of one of the bullies getting into MMA and having success?

MM: I have heard rumors that that has happened. The guys started training in MMA after they got beat up and that's kind of funny because that's what happened to me. I didn't really understand what mixed martial arts were. I thought that because I was a good street fighter, that I could just jump in there and do it. I got a rude awakening when my buddy, who is smaller than me, spin-kicked me and then choked me with a triangle choke. That made me really want to learn mixed martial arts and I took that approach. Maybe there is hope for these bullies now.

PC: I watched you get mobbed in the airport and the fans were saying, "That's the guy from that MTV show." How many fans do you feel approach you as the martial artist and how many are approaching you because of the show?

MM: I would say it's probably like 70-30 because I think more people have seen that MTV show, that runs all the time, than watching MMA. That show is on non-stop, so I'm not very surprised that a lot of people recognize me from "Bully Beatdown".

PC: Although the show is based on fighting, you're hosting an actual MTV show and I think it's important for fighters to look for avenues outside of fighting. You're opening up doors for other fighters by hosting "Bully Beatdown." How important is that?

MM: Honestly, I don't care about everyone else. I care about me (laughing), so I'm happy that it's opening doors for me, but at the same time, I'm really happy that it's exposing a whole new world of young people to mixed martial arts. I've been involved with mixed martial arts since I was like 16 or 17; that's when I got into it. I see how great this sport is and I see how fun it is and it's great to see other people take notice as well.

PC: On to your fighting career. You said you wanted to be the first to submit Sakuraba and you achieved that goal. Where does that win rank in your book because I know you were a huge fan of his?

MM: I don't know, it just seemed that I knew what I was going to do and I just went in there and did it. It always feels good to accomplish your goals that you're set on doing. I set that goal a long time ago. As soon as I went to Japan, the first fight I asked for was Sakuraba because he was my hero, and it took awhile to get the fight put together, but it finally happened and it felt good to beat my hero.

PC: I read where you said you couldn't look at him as your hero while you were in the ring with him, but you did get emotional afterwards. What was that emotional rollercoaster like for you?

MM: Inside of the ring, man, you gotta be a robot. You just gotta go in there and do your job. Then once the fight was over, I realized what I had accomplished and it was a crazy experience because it was like 10 years in the making.

PC: The Nick Diaz fight seems to be the fight everyone wants to see. You feel as though Nick doesn't want to see it. What's the latest on that situation?

MM: The latest is www.dontbescaredhomie.com. It's a brand new website to let everyone know that somebody is scared and it ain't me.

PC: You feel like Nick will fight at any weight class, and he will even fight at middleweight, but not against you, right?

MM: Absolutely. He will not fight against me, but he will go up and do it against somebody else. Obviously Nick Diaz is not as dumb as he acts.

PC: You also said he is not this gangster that people think he is. What is your perception of Nick Diaz?

MM: I don't know...he makes me want to donate to an Asperger Autism Charity. He makes me want to raise awareness about Autism because something is off about him; maybe it's just all of the weed, I don't know.

PC: If not Nick Diaz next, who and where? Are you hearing anything?

MM: I don't know. I would imagine they would want me to come to Japan for their DYNAMITE show, which is a really big event that they do in Japan every year. They do it on New Year's and if they want to put me on that, I would be excited about getting ready for that and doing it. I really love to fight and I would really like to do it sooner than later. And now that "Bully Beatdown" is done, and I'm done with doing all of the press for "Bully Beatdown", I need a new project. I need the next project to come off here soon.

PC: I'm always looking forward to your next fight, as well as the season premier of "Bully Beatdown." I'm sure it's going to be a great season. Is there anything else you want to say in closing?

MM: No man, thank you; it was a great interview. Good luck with it.
