MANNY PACQUIAO: "THIS FIGHT WILL BE ONE GOOD BATTLE...I PROMISE!"

By Percy Crawford | November 05, 2010
MANNY PACQUIAO:

"I love the challenge of fighting Margarito. I have never chosen who I fight. It is my job. When my promoter and my team says it is the best fight out there for me, I just do my job and fight for the fans of boxing. Boxing is a science. You win because you think your advantage against opponents will carry you to victory. Then, you practice to increase that advantage in the gym and apply that on fight night. We have done different things when we faced Hatton, De La Hoya, Cotto and Clottey. You win because most of the time, you believe in yourself, in God, and in your team...Everyone should not miss this fight. It will surely be an exciting battle because Margarito is also a warrior who comes in to give his best and does not back down. This fight will be one good battle, like all of my previous ones, I promise," stated pound-for-pound champion Manny Pacquiao, who took time out of his busy schedule to speak with FightHype.com about his upcoming November 13 showdown with Antonio Margarito. Check out what else he had to say about the fight, Margarito, and much more.

PC: First and foremost, I truly appreciate you conducting this interview with me. How are you doing Manny?

MP: Hello to all the readers of FightHype. Things are doing great. We are almost ready to fly out to Dallas on Monday.

PC: How is camp going and how are you feeling with the added weight?

MP: Training camp is running well. My height and physique is naturally for a lightweight or a super lightweight, at the most, but I think the move to fight at super welterweight is just fine. I have been eating much every time and I have not gained as much weight since. I will not even have to shed poundage for this fight while ironically eating foods that I like.

PC: When I watch you on 24/7, you seem to really have fun boxing and training for these fights. How important is it for this sport to remain fun for you because you do have a lot of other things going on right now?

MP: Boxing is my passion. I love my job. All the things I do, I love doing them, whether it be my job as a congressman or an actor or a singer. What counts most is for you to love what you do. I love fighting for the fans, to give out a good fight, always.

PC: Antonio Margarito is by far the biggest guy you have faced, but you seem to deal with size well. Do you get off on fighting bigger opponents?

MP: I might have been one of the smallest welterweights and super welterweights. I love the challenge of fighting Margarito. You win because most of the time, you believe in yourself, in God, and in your team.

PC: Margarito has not been stopped a whole lot in his career. Do you feel like you can knock him out?

MP: I have never predicted a result on any fight. I just try my best. If the knockout comes, that will be a bonus.

PC: I'm sure it is an extreme honor for you to be back at Cowboys Stadium fighting again. What do you think of that facility?

MP: It is an honor to fight in probably the best stadium in the world. Fighting over at Cowboys Stadium is a salute to Jerry Jones' support to boxing.

PC: I heard about your street fights in the Philippines and I'm sure some of the guys you were dealing with then were bigger as well.

MP: (Laughing) I never picked a fight. I got into fights either to defend myself and my brothers from getting bullied.

PC: You don't seem to have much need for sleep. You keep a very busy schedule. What is a typical day like for you?

MP: As long as I get eight hours of sleep during training camp, I am good. When I am not fighting, I have so many engagements. It is just a matter of time management and finding time for yourself and your family.

PC: What is a typical day off for Manny Pacquiao?

MP: Being with my wife and kids.

PC: I gotta get the final "Pacquiao Prediction". How do you see this fight going and how will it end?

MP: No predictions.

PC: Ok. I tried (laughing). Thanks for your time. It was an honor to interview you. Is there anything you want to say in closing? Let everyone know why they should tune in on November 13th?

MP: It is a pleasure talking to you and the fans of FightHype. Everyone should not miss this fight. It will surely be an exciting battle because Margarito is also a warrior who comes in to give his best and does not back down. This fight will be one good battle, like all of my previous ones, I promise.
