FROM PILLAR TO POST: IS PACQUIAO SWEEPING UP MAYWEATHER'S LEFTOVERS IN MOSLEY?

Following his expected win over Antonio Margarito last Saturday, Manny Pacquiao did not attempt to commit to a future opponent, instead leaving it in the hands of his promoter, Bob Arum, and Top Rank. Arum would later say that Pacquiao's next opponent will not be a Top Rank fight, which is no surprise being that he's exhausted nearly every possible in-house opponent they have for Pacquiao to begin with, but perhaps Arum forgot to add a "yet" to his statement.

It is becoming more and more likely that "Sugar" Shane Mosley will sign some sort of working agreement with Top Rank, and given some of the rumors regarding his financial situation, he'll likely be desperate enough to make all of the concessions in order to get his mega-fight with Pacquiao. After all, the future Hall of Fame fighter has been practically begging for the fight since last year, even offering to chop off a leg in order to meet Pacquiao at 140 pounds. Mosley-Pacquiao would have been interesting had it been made last year, but considering Mosley's state now, it'll just be another instance of Pacquiao sweeping up Mayweather's leftovers.

Will David Haye Duck Ruslan Chagaev?

In case anybody forgot, David Haye faced off against journeyman Audley Harrison last weekend, knocking him out in three rounds. In no less than two days, Haye called out the Klitschkos, the Klitschkos publically made an offer, and Haye has already frustrated them to the point where they'll again look for another opponent. I remember when Haye's antics would take months; now it seems that he has it down to a 2-day science.

Turning down a 50-50 deal, citing refusal to fight either Klitschko in Germany, is further proof that Haye is undoubtably the biggest chicken to ever hold a title. Since arriving to the Heavyweight division, Haye has taken on the worst competition possible en route to a title belt, and despite his claims of wanting to be the best, he has absolutely no desire to make any big fight happen at all. One would have to wonder if Haye will also dodge his new mandatory, former WBA champion Ruslan Chagaev, who is levels better than anybody Haye has fought in years.

Sergio Martinez Not Ruling Out Title Shot At 168

On the eve of his rematch with Paul Williams this Saturday, WBC Middleweight champion Sergio Martinez said that he would entertain the idea of facing Super Middleweight champion Lucian Bute if the opportunity presented itself in the future. There is some red tape to cross here though, as Martinez has been on HBO for the past three years while Bute just signed a three-fight deal with Showtime, so it's unlikely that, if Martinez were to head to 168, he would fight Bute.

Though Martinez would more than likely lose that fight, I can see why he's looking to take such a big risk. After Williams, there is nobody that he can get the networks to approve for a fight with him. Top Rank has monopolized the 147-154 weight class, so it is unlikely that Martinez can get any Junior Middleweight to move up. Not to mention, 160 is a wasteland.

Speaking of Sergio MartinezÂ…

Potshot Picks:

Sergio Martinez vs. Paul Williams II

I believe that Martinez is going to come into this fight with a strategy similar to Shane Mosley's victory over Antonio Margarito: be first and clinch often. Williams is a fighter that needs momentum to maximize his punch output and if Martinez takes that away from him, it'll be interesting to see how Williams can adjust. Unfortunately for Williams, I think he's planning on fighting this fight like he did the first, and that will get him in trouble. Martinez by dominant decision.
