JEFF MAYWEATHER: "LIL FLOYD DON'T GET THE SAME TREATMENT AS THE AVERAGE FIGHTER"

By Percy Crawford | November 22, 2010
JEFF MAYWEATHER:

"Look at when the article came out that Big Floyd was sick. They have a blog where they can leave comments and you got people saying, 'Oh, he needs to die.' How ignorant can you be? That's just ignorant and it has nothing to do with boxing. It's like when Margarito and his camp talked about Freddie. That's shits wrong. Freddie didn't ask for that damn disease.  He just got it and now he has to deal with it and face it, but it's horrible for you to have to stoop that low...It's just funny to me how Lil Floyd got more crap for saying, 'sushi rolls,' and things like that than Margarito got for imitating a guy with Parkinson's. But again, Lil Floyd don't get the same treatment as the average fighter because he's not the average fighter. He's an undefeated fighter that's held to a different standard and that's fine. He let his fighter handle it and put it in perspective because at the end of the day, Margarito could talk all he wanted to, but that didn't change what happened to him that night. And that's what basically happened. He got what he had coming to him," stated world-class trainer Jeff Mayweather, who talked more about the misconceptions of his son, Floyd Mayweather, and much more. Check it out!

PC: What do you say to the people that called your nephew a racist because of the UStream video?

JM: That whole thing was taken out of context. The only thing that's wrong is that Floyd is a public figure. And not to mention, he was talking about Manny, who you can't say anything about. People say stuff like that every single day. They say the same stuff with black people and chicken. Any type of way that you can associate a race, you poke at 'em. It's in a fun way, and basically, what Floyd was doing was in a fun way. It wasn't an all-out racist attack against Manny or anything like that. How is Floyd a racist and one of the dudes that were there with him in the background was Asian? You can actually see all of these other different ethnicities in the same room with Floyd when he's doing the video. The Asian guy was right behind him, but he understood that it was just fun. He knew it was a joke because they probably joke that way with one another all the time. I have Filipino friends and of course we make jokes, but he makes jokes too. And I'm not even necessarily talking about racist jokes, but just jokes in general. He talks to me about the Filipino culture. He says there are a lot of things that they do in their culture that's bad and against the rules of everything over here. He said that, but if he said that in front of one of them Pac maniacs...and he's a Pacquiao fan, but if he said that in front of one of them, they would crucify him. And all he is doing is speaking the truth. It's like if you are not for Pacquiao, then fuck you.

PC: Well, I know we eliminate some of the comments on articles because some of them that are left really have nothing to do with boxing. Instead, they're just racist and ignorant comments. But contrary to what people believe, we disabled comments on my interview with Manny as well, not just Mayweather interviews.

JM: Well, you get people saying all kinds of dumb shit, "Mayweather's a faggot," and all of that and that's going too far. First of all, you don't even know this person; you ain't nothing but a fucking fan. You can't do what he's doing and that's why you ain't nothing but a fucking fan. The only thing you can do is sit your ass back and make an opinion. Floyd don't even know who you are, but you are the same fucking person that, when you see him, you wanna run to him to get an autograph. I get it all the time, especially on Facebook. You gonna sit on my Facebook page and argue with me? Peace, you outta here! I just delete them.

PC: You Mayweather's catch a lot of heat, but at least you guys know where it's coming from.

JM: Oh yeah. I mean, they are just showing how ignorant they are. You look at when the article came out that Big Floyd was sick. They have a blog where they can leave comments and you got people saying, "Oh, he needs to die." How ignorant can you be? That's just ignorant and it has nothing to do with boxing. It's like when Margarito and his camp talked about Freddie. That's shits wrong. Freddie didn't ask for that damn disease.  He just got it and now he has to deal with it and face it, but it's horrible for you to have to stoop that low. Don't get me wrong, I know Margarito was looking at it like, "Fuck it. These motherfuckers have been crucifying me for the last 2 years." He just wanted to say something, but to be honest, he was the last person to be saying anything. First of all, you been caught red-handed. I think it was more of the fact that he was mad at Manny for when Manny said that stuff about, "How can you not know when he's wrapping your hands." I think it was more directed towards Manny, but he didn't have anything to go at Manny about, so he went after Freddie, the closest thing to him. That's what you do when you're upset. It's like, "Fuck it, I can't talk about you; I will talk about your woman or your brother or your cousin. Somebody gonna feel it." But Margarito should have been the last person on this planet to say something negative about anybody because he was caught red-handed. Freddie Roach understood the old saying, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me." Freddie knew that shit ain't have anything to do with the fight. Freddie allowed his fighter to handle that situation. He talked that crap about Freddie and then he had to deal with Manny. It's just funny to me how Lil Floyd got more crap for saying, "sushi rolls," and things like that than Margarito got for imitating a guy with Parkinson's. He got what he had coming to him.
