Despite all the trash talk leading up to the fight, WBA jr. middleweight champion Miguel Cotto kept his cool outside of the ring, but let his fists do the talking inside of it, stopping the wild and upredictable Ricardo Mayorga moments ago at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mayorga was game and had his moments, forcing the champion into heated exchanges at times, but in the end, it was the more technical Cotto who found a home for his more accurate punches, landing a perfect left hook that floored Mayorga in the 12th.
