"The last person that ever fought like Pacquiao was the kid out of Cincinnati, Aaron Pryor. Aaron Pryor was the first original Pacquiao, you know, so he's not just going to grab any sparring partner," stated Naazim Richardson as he shared his thoughts on Manny Pacquiao with FightHype.com at the Cotto vs. Mayorga card in Las Vegas, Nevada. Currently preparing "Sugar" Shane Mosley for his May 7th showdown with the Filipino icon, Richardson discussed his reasons for wanting to use six different sparring partners during training camp.
"If somebody comes to your camp talking about, 'Hey, I fight like Pacquiao,' they're lying or they'd be somewhere defending their own title. So we have to do what we have to do to make sure we can address certain things in the ring with Pacquiao," he explained. While some have questioned whether or not Mosley has enough left in the tank to be competitive against Pacquiao, Richardson insists that the 39-year-old has not slowed down at all in training. "I've been testing that age in the gym and he's been throwing it back in my face every time," he added. "Every time I throw something at him to see if he's slowing down, he throws it back at my face so I think we're in good shape on May 7th."
