SHANE MOSLEY: "I FEEL LIKE A LEGENDARY FIGHTER...I'M BACK"

By Ben Thompson | April 01, 2011
SHANE MOSLEY:

"He might move a little more or try and give me angles more, but other than that, he's still going to come and fight because he's a fighter. I know I'm going to shock a lot of people...When I jump in that ring, it's basically the fight of my life, so I gotta let these people know what time it is...I feel like a legendary fighter. I feel different. I feel like I'm back. Working with Top Rank, the way they treat me, I just feel legendary," stated three-division world champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley as he talked about his preparations for his upcoming May 7th showdown. Check it out!

BT: So Shane, I see that they've got your logo for Sugar Shane Mosley Promotions on all of the promotional material. Now that you've got your own promotional company, how's everything been going in regards to working with Top Rank?

SM: Every time I've fought on a Top Rank card, I've been treated good. Ever since I fought Oscar the first time when he was with Top Rank, I was treated like royalty. Anything I wanted, it was there like that. This fight with Pacquiao, everything's 100%; everything is good. Even though they're going for the other side, they're going for Pacquiao and they hope Pacquiao wins, they're still treating me good. I feel good right now and I'm not even promoted by Top Rank. I feel like a legendary fighter. I feel different. I feel like I'm back. Working with Top Rank, the way they treat me, I just feel legendary.

BT: How's everything going as far as training is concerned?

SM: I'm working hard as hell. Everything is looking good right now. I'm looking good, I'm training hard, and Brother Naaz is on me, working me hard.

BT: Are you training 5 days or 6 days per week?

SM: Man, I do this every day. Rest is probably one of my workouts (laughing).

BT: (Laughing) Wow. So there's basically just 6 weeks left to go, right?

SM: Basically. Well, 5 weeks with 4 weeks of real training. I gotta make sure everything is good and make sure that I'm on point. When I jump in that ring, it's basically the fight of my life, so I gotta let these people know what time it is.

BT: Do you think we might see a different style from Manny Pacquiao inside that ring come May 7th?

SM: He might move a little more or try and give me angles more, but other than that, he's still going to come and fight because he's a fighter. I know I'm going to shock a lot of people. It's going to shock people when they see that I'm able to do what I do.

BT: How's it been filming all the Fight Camp 360 stuff? Are they up in your face and following you around all the time?

SM: They're more intense than HBO 24/7. They're not narrating on it, so they're really up on you. They come for 3 or 4 days; I mean non-stop all up in your face. You can't even pick your nose; they're like right there. I'm serious. I'm like, "Come on, man. I'm going to the bathroom," and they'll follow me right in. They're dead serious. They're a little more intense as far as the camera work. The camera people, yeah, they're up on you.

BT: You know, I recently saw some footage of Manny at his training camp in the Philippines. He looks like a rock star over there. I mean, he's got his wife chillin' there, he's surrounded by all these reporters and the rest of his entourage; do you think he might be underestimating you at all?

SM: Well, that shows what's about to go down, you know? Remember when Margarito was like that? Margarito came in with his sunglasses and he was all Hollywood. Then he had the Harley Davidson given to him and all that stuff. And then we fought. He came in looking a different way than he went out. He wasn't looking hungry no more. He wasn't looking like a movie star, you know?

BT: That almost sounded like you're planning on doing to Pacquiao what you did to Margarito.

SM: Well, I'm training like that. People are gonna be like, "What the hell?" Then I won't get another fight for another year (laughing).

BT: (Laughing) Real quick, before I let you go, did you see where Bob Arum said Floyd Mayweather wants $100 million to fight Pacquiao?

SM: That's not going to happen. He's going to have to see me again. I'm sorry about that, but Floyd's going to have to see me again.
